Hi, everyone! My name is Susan. My fiance and I are planning a Dec 2009 wedding. It will be a second marriage for both and we both have children (ages 14 and 19). Anyway, we are leaving from Puerto Rico on Dec 13, 2009 for a cruise (Caribbean Princess). We're hoping to get married sometime on that trip (either the day before the cruise or during it). Only a small number of family members will be with us so we're not looking for anything extravagant. Quaint and romantic would be more like it. Any ideas? We really would like a beach location with nothing more than the officiant and our family. Not looking to spend a lot of money, since we'd rather spend that on our vacation. The cruise line offers wedding services, but they run around $2000. Would like to see what else we can come up with on our own. We'll be in San Juan, St Lucia, Barbados, St Thomas and Tortola. Would love to hear from anyone with wedding planning experience on these islands. Thanks and happy planning to you all!

Why not do it in Puerto Rico and then the Cruise can be like the honeymoon. The reason I say that is b/c trying to do it on the way might be harder depending if the cruise ship comes into ports at the right time, and the different paper work needed for those places.

I agree with not paying the extra fee on the cruise ship...I would look into doing it before you leave for the cruise! It will be very romantic and then you can enjoy the entire cruise with family and your new Husband!

Good Luck!

Welcome to the forum! I used to work as a photographer on the Coral Princess and the Crown Princess!! I have been to 2 of the 5 places you mentioned and have shot a few weddings as a Cruise Ship Photographer! I even know the layout of grand class ships like the Carribbean Princess (Crown Princess is very close to the same!)!

If you have any questions at all please let me know! I am more than happy to help you out, and I am SO jealous of anyone going on cruises, as not only I worked on them but my girlfriend did too (Hairstylist in the spa)! In fact thats how we met! :)

PM me if you have any questions or leave it in the thread, it could be useful to others!

Hi

I am also cruising to my wedding destination. It seems that our cruises have a few of the same ports. Of all the islands u mentioned I've only been to St Thomas and I fell in love with it and will be married there 11.10.09. I agree that I didn't want to work with the cruise coordinators so I'm working with Janelle Scott of Island Bliss. She's located in St Thomas.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
