    Thanks everyone for the honest posts. I am so glad that I mentioned it on here before I decided to really do it. Always nice to have other opinions!

            Be carful with the butterflies and a destination wedding. As a biologist there are way too many introduced species. Make sure you pick a species that lives in mexico and get them from mexico. Releasing a speices that doesn't live there can really harm the native wildlife. Good luck and sorry to be so serious with this post.

              Thanks! I happend to be viewing photogalleries online and saw it being done (in mexico) so I wanted to research it to see if anyone had reviews. After reading the thread I opted to go back to the flowers..lol. I really dont want my guests to open up the pretty boxes to find dead butterflies..lol.

                  Wow, i was considering a butterfly release, but after reading about the horrific things that happen to them. I agree it is not a good idea.

                    he should have the perfect view.
                    His little girl's a Bride today,
                    and I am counting on you.
                    Let me feel his presence;

                    But let me notice his abscence;
                    if only for a while.
                    Let me stop to think of him;
                    As I am given away.
                    And know that if he could;
                    he would be here with me today.
                    Dear Lord please clear a spot for him;
                    he should have the perfect view.
                    And if he should get sad today;
                    Dear Lord I count on you.
                    That is an amazing poem! I'm at work reading right now and actually crying. If you don't mind, I might actually use that poem for my wedding day.

                      I was considering the butterfly release, but a friend gave me a great alternative (and a lot cheaper). It will just take a bit of creativity and handy work. There is a way to make paper butterflies on a spring that you wind up, and when you open a card or envelope, they fly up. She is super creative and is looking for the instructions on how to do this. When she gets back to me, I'll post it for you!
