Holy moly, we made our decision on time and date and we haven't even talked budget yet with FI, but I think I better sit down PDQ and figure this stuff out!!

I was thinking $8K tops but most of your budgets blow this out of the water eek.gif

Looks like I got some figuring out to do dizzy.gif

One Question though, do you couples have the cash for this stuff? Or is this going mostly on credit? My FI and I have some debt, but certainly don't have any savings to speak of that we can pay for this thing cash. It's stressing me a bit confused.gif

Debs - you have 14 months till you get married! This is enough time to save the $$ you need for your wedding. Be realistic about what you can save & make that be your budget. Between now & your wedding date you will have the opportunity to get -2 tax refunds (hopefully!), 1-bonus from work, and you will have time to save something every month.

Oh, ya for sure, we are saving $100 a month, plus we'll get about $2,000 back from taxes (YAY!). We are then not using our holidays this year so our V-pay will be another $1200 for me and $1800 for him. Then we'll have a buck & doe, which we'll make at least another $2k. So we should be ok. It's just the beginning stuff (deposits etc) that's we'll have to fork out because we don't have anything saved yet. So that's about what, $8500?

Thanks for the advice though. I'm going to sit down Sunday and actually work some figures out.

Oh wow.. I was hoping to stay under $5,000, but it seems like that's not a possibility after looking at everyone else's budgets. We're both students living off of student loans, so saving up isn't an option, and we'd rather not make our parents pay for much. We're expecting around 30 guests, and would be more than happy with a simple (but still special) wedding. Here's my rough budget so far:

Dress and accessories - $300

Tux/Suit - $200

Videography - $0 (recruiting a friend in film school)

Music - $200 (just for ceremony; hopefully bringing ipod and own speakers for reception)

Invitations - $80 (doing them ourselves)

Save the Date cards - $50 (ourselves)

Rings - ?

Photographer - $0 (recruiting a friend in art school)

Ceremony + Reception - $2,000 (hopefully free basic package + add-ons for additional guests)

Total so far: $2,830

I'm considering my fiance and my travel expenses as separate from the cost of the wedding (because the wedding budget looks much more tolerable that way) wink.gif We're hoping the cost of our flights plus the hotel room will total less than $3,000.

Sophie, just something to think about, but make sure you include postage costs into your invite and save the date costs. Those stamps can definately add up quickly.

Saw this on-going thread and thought I'd put this here:

For those of you who still have the password to the DIY page of our website still, I just uploaded an excel document that will budget/track/calculate all the purchases for wedding for anyone to download who wants it.

For example: the main sheet of the document is a categorized overview (like under attire it will show expenses for the bride and groom). But if you click on the "Attire" sheet of the document, you can enter the description of the item (and location where you purchased it), the quantity and unit price. It will then keep track of all your attire expenses and categorize them on the main overview sheet.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
