I kinda of did a backwards approach too - I never set a budget, but just tracked what I spent. It did end up being way more than we thought! Oh well - it was worth it I think.

I am sooooo glad I've found this site so early in our planning!!!!

I always thought "hey, we'll get married on the beach with some friends & family & it won't cost us very much!" but after reading differnet info from the forum & add-ons I never knew were possible for a destination wedding I am getting a bit nervous!!! As much as I am all for simple cost-effective, there are definately some things that I am now willing to spend extra money on! (IE/ photography, etc!)

We are a younger couple, and as much as I want everything at my wedding to be exactly how I want it.. I also want alot of other things!! My car isn't going to last much longer than a year & we're definately hoping to find our own place so we can stop throwing away money on renting....

I'd better tell the bf he better start working some overtime shifts!! LOL

We didn't really set a budget, but we discuss all the expenses as they arise. If we think something is unnecessary then we just don't do it. We splurge on some stuff and get rid of others (like the rehersal and welcome dinners).

We're doing something similar. Our ballpark figure is $10k and so far we're coming under, but not by much. We discuss all expenses as well and decide whether they're necessary for us to have our "dream" Jamaican wedding. One good thing is that the $$$ we're spending on our wedding is our money - we're not going into debt for this celebration! So far, we haven't had to skimp on anything that we thought was crucial for our wedding to be spectacular. Of course, we also only have 8 guests, so that helps keep OOT bag and reception costs down!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
