restaurants in playa del carmen

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a really good restaurant in Playa Del Carmen that we could go to for our rehearsal dinner? We really wanted good food with a nice atmosphere. We have looked into a couple restaurants but we could use some recommendations. We will have about 23 people attending.

These are some of the restaurants we tried out during our vacation/scouting trip. They are all located on/off 5th avenue in Playa Del Carmen.

1. La Casa del Agua ($$$) - Definitely good food and the price reflects the great quality of food/service. (grupos@lacasadelagua.com.mx)

2. El Bistro at La Tortuga ($) (elbistro@hotellatortuga.com) - Great food at a very reasonable price. They have the best mojitos!!! Also, don't forget about the fruit flambee for desserts! This will be our choice for welcoming/rehearsal dinner. Friendly/Flexible service and great drinks!

3. Di Vino by the Glass Bar ($$$) - Pretty good food and they have a long rectangular table that can seat 20 - 22 people in the back of the restaurant. (info@divino.com.mx)

4. La Capricho ($$) - Flambee Mexican Cuisine (rpcaprichoza@hotmail.com)

5. Sur ($$$) - We had high expectations going in but left disappointed.

Sure thing! I like sharing information from our scouting trip back in December 2008. If I had found this site few months beforehand, I would have planned things out better to check out more places/options.

There is one more place I forgot to mention. Very good italian food a block or two away from fifth avenue and the setting is very casual. This will be a great place to go with a small group in flip flops and shorts after laying on the beach for a few hours. :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
