Past Ontario Brides ~ Marriage Certificate ??

Recommended Posts

OK..I'm just curious as to how this is going to work with the Marriage Certificate from Jamaica.

Do I need to apply for a marriage certificate here using the marriage certificate from Jamaica?

Can I simply use the marriage certificate from Jamaica to change my last name?

I was looking at the ontario government website about marriages outside of ontario and I'm unclear as to how to go about this.

Any info would be appreciated!

That's a good question! I'll have to ask my SIL - I remember her mentioning that her passport was in her maiden name but she goes by her husband's name..hmm...

Thanks Christene!! Something else to stress over LOL

Once you are married you have to change your passport to your married name. It does not have to match your birth certicate, if you are married. Just bring in your marriage license to the passport office. I know a few years back my friend got married and it cost only a few dollars and they just put a sticker with her new name on it. It might be a little different now, that they have made it easier to get a passport.

I am not a Jamaica bride.. but am going to chime in anyway. You can legally change your name (which includes everything and your birth certificate) or assume your husband's name (everything but your bc). That's what I did and it's pretty easy.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
