New Digital Camera

Hey Girls,

I'm looking for a new digital camera.

What I want is something no more then $200. Takes good action and night shots. I really want to be able to get something sorta compact. Nothing extremely huge.

Right now we have a Sony, but I'm not really liking it. I can't get good night time shots on any setting. Muchless action shots, they come up as a giant blur.

I know we have quite a few amateur photographers, so any recommendations are worth it!!

I love Canons!!! We have like 5 different ones in our family! If you go to a store you will be spending more than $200 on one. They pop up frequently online for under $200. If you are not in a rush, I would keep an eye out on WWW.SLICKDEALS.COM and see what comes up. Here is one from yesterday. It's sold out... but just to give you an idea of whats out there.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS 8MP 3x Zoom Digital Camera $103 W/ Paypal + Epson Stylus R280 Inkjet Printer Free After $100MIR - SlickDeals.net Forums

As far as us... We have the S400(old school), SD400, SD450, SD600, SD850is and RebelxT. We love them all.

I love my Canon too! I have a Powershot SD870 IS & it's the best! It was recommended by friends & it's the best camera I've ever had so far! It's also small & compact. I think it was over my budget that I originally alotted but I don't remember off hand exactly how much it was but it was worth it.

i love slickdeals. i bought my canon sd600 from a slickdeal a few years ago.

the night time blur is due to having too slow of a shutter speed. learning more about how a camera functions can help you with this issue.

try increasing your ISO (sensitivity to light). my canon sd600 has an option to pick "high ISO." turn it back down in the daytime.

also, if the subject is over 10 feet away, turn off you flash. it won't help & it actually makes it harder to shoot at night.

The other thing to with a low shutter speed is to keep the camera really steady. you can use a tripod or place it on something.

but, if the subject is moving, you will still get blur. you have limits with every camera, especially with low light.

also, while shopping don't worry about megapixels. you don't need so many. it's just a marketing tool to keep increasing them with each model.

I was recently helping my brother shop for a point & shoot. I scanned through all of the current canon point & shoots & they all looked good. He went with the canon A590. it was a little over $100 from newegg.com. It's not as small as the SD line, but will take pictures just the same. Also, you can control your settings more (aperture & shutter speed). Usually you just see these options in more expensive cameras. You do have to learn a little about photography to take advantage of these features, but just learning the basics though will go along way.

also, switch your camera settings. there is one for nighttime portrait, action, etc. I never took my point & shoot out of auto before I started learning how to work my SLR camera.

often people buy the most expensive point & shoot they can to try to get better pictures. There isn't a big difference between the $100 p&s and the $400 one. learning how to take the picture will have a much bigger impact.

I love love love Canon cameras. I have had Canon for my last 3 cameras. They are super easy to use and very user friendly and honestly my last camera which was 8.1 megapixels took far better images than my parents Sony 10.2 megapixels. Right now I have the SD950 IS which is 12.1 megapixels....

Love Canons!

Cannons are awesome and all of the cameras I have really enjoyed have been them. I just bought my mother in law a new one for xmas... go to buy.com You will find tons of Cannons super cheap... and they show you the rest of the pricing in other stores/online even with shipping to be cheaper than anywhere else. I trust buy.com totally ... I have bought computers, phones, cameras, batteries, toys, you name it ... my latest Cannon is the SD1100 like everyone else and I love it!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
