10 Budgeting Tips for the Frugal Minded :)

Recommended Posts

DarcyJAde: just go to their website. Vistaprint.com for US or Vistaprint.ca for Canada. Sign up and the emails come on a regular basis about the free stuff. I was really surprised when I first signed up I could not really find free stuff that I wanted and then like 2 days later the emails just started to come in. I tried the free 140 free address labels just to see the quality, I was very impressed. I ordered them on a sunday and I had them by the wednesday. The only thing you pay for is the shipping.

Have fun with Vistaprint :)

Another tip for brides near Toronto:

There is a wedding gown store on Orfus Road called Your White Dress. All of their gowns are $299 and they do have a decent selection. I will say this: much will depend on your taste. They do not have any/many frilly, princess designer gowns with crystal beading. Mind you, I did see the most beautiful gown that I would have bought in a heart beat if I were an Ivory Bride...but I want pure white.

The styles are simpler, but nice for a simple destination wedding all the same. They would also be great for a TTD.

They don't show much on the site, but if you can visit the store, it may be worth it.

Great thread. At last you girls have restored my faith!!! I was beginning to feel like a cheap freak for refusing to pay excruciating prices that seem to be the norm when the word wedding comes up. We are paying for everything ourselves in cash and currently working 3 jobs each to achieve it. Luckily we both agree that the real investment is in the "marriage" rather than the "wedding"!

H2B and I work together as wedding photographers and are in the priveliged position of seeing many weddings with all types of budgets, one thing we've learned is that the happiness of the couple, the atmosphere of the day and more often than not the bride-zilla-ometer is never a reflection of the cost1

Whether its poundland or Prada, relax, enjoy and count your blessings.

great tips!

mine are:

1)shop in stores to try things on but then see if you can find it online

my MOH's dress was $300 at a bridal store, we took the brand and style number and searched the internet and it was $160

Wedding Dresses, Prom Dresses, and Designer Wedding Dresses

i'm going to do the same with my tiara. shop to find the style i like but then order online. i just can't justify a $100 tiara from a wedding store when i'm going to get to wear it once

Eden Jewel

2) shop everywhere and always keep your eye out for what you need even if you're not specifically shopping for wedding stuff. i bought my wedding jewelry at Claire's accessories. $14.50 for my braclet, earrings and toe ring.

3) instead of getting my makeup done at the resort salon i'm going to Mac or Sephora and getting a make over done with my MOH watching. i think they're free but you might have to buy some minimum amount of make up. don't quote me on that cuz i haven't gone yet. lol. then i'll buy the make up they use and have my MOH do my wedding makeup

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
