Hello!

It seems like it has been some time since anyone has posted on here but I thought I would say hi. I was previously booked to have my wedding in Mexico but due to some family concerns about traveling there we decided to move it to Aruba!  It was very stressful to organize everything all over again in a new location but I am confident everyone will love it there. I am getting married at the Manchebo on June 11, 2011. I have been to Aruba once for a wedding and I loved it. It truly is a beautiful island and you definitely feel safe going out and about there.

My wedding planner/coordinator is Lissy Lampe who comes highly recommended by 2 of my friends who have used here there. So far she has been excellent with communication and being very specific about what everything.

I think we may stay at the Hyatt for a few nights, but not sure if we will be moving to another hotel/resort from there. I also want to try to stay at the Bucuti or Manchebo the night before the wedding so that it is easy for me to get ready from there and then walk down when it is time for the ceremony.

I am so excited and can't wait to get some inspiration from this board!

Hi Marisa -

I am getting married on March 7 at the Renaissance Resort. Can't wait! Now that the snow in flying in MN I am even more excited about the trip than a few months ago. bunny_4.gif

You are correct, this thread has been REALLY quiet lately, which I think is strange. Are people not going to Aruba?!

Happy planning!

Ann

Hi Aruba Ladies!

I've been on and off the board for a while because we've had to postpone our wedding. I think we've settled on late 2011 or early 2012. We've been to Aruba before and LOVED it so I think we'll be doing it there given that Mexico is a bit dangerous right now. In my opinion the Marriot resort or the Renaissance were the nicest resorts. The Marriott is down on a strip with a number of other resorts that is further from the main city/cruise ship dock, and the Renaissance is in the middle of the main city near more shops and restaurants.

My problem is that I don't want my ceremony on a beach, but rather on some type of garden or patio. Im considering Renaissance Island, but I've also seen a location through a wedding planner, E2 Weddings and Events, that seems beautiful, so I'm waiting to hear back from them.

We're also considering doing a boat cruise with our guests the day before in place of a rehearsal dinner or welcome reception.

I look forward to talking with everyone as I get things rolling!

MissE,

Congrats!!!  Aruba is a wonderful choice.  You and your guests will love it.  We got married there last May and our guests are still talking about it and are demanding a 1 year reunion.  Not that I mind at all haha.

When I was researching the resorts, all of them had more than just the beach ceremony option.  Many had indoor options.  Not sure about gardens but I'm sure it's possible.  Some of my family stayed at the Marriott (the really huge one right on the strip) and they had a 2-bedroom apartment there which was awesome since they had kids with them (full kitchen and all).

Enjoy it!!!!

MD Lady, thanks for posting such a great review on the Hyatt and your wedding in general. Your gift bags were awesome, please don't be upset if I steal some ideasmsnwink.gif. I'm also in the DC area, but our guests will be coming from all over the country. As I looked at flights from the west coast and midwest, I've started to get a little worried, wondering if my guests will be able to afford it. But I'm hoping it will work out...

Hi.  I'm trying to plan for a NOvember 2011 wedding there in ARuba, which i loved (ive gone before).  Im just really stressing on finding the right hotel/wedding location.  i want to be able to do all-inclusive for my gusts, but also dont know how many of hte "traditional" destination wedding norms i'm going to do or should do or even what they all are: pay for attendants accomodations, how many dinners, breakfasts, etc...so any help would be appreciated.  i am kind of torn between renaissance, westin, possibly the marriott or hyatt, but then my TA is pushing the Occidental...any help would be appreciated to call my type A self.  thanks.

hi bryan, eading your posts have bene helpful.  i am torn by the renaissance's privacy and the westin and maybe hyatt and marriott's rooms.  i had heard that the renaissance's rooms might not be as nice as some of the others, although the wedding accomodations might be spectacular...your thoughts?  and how public are the weddings at the hotels i mentioned.

thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
