My First Fitting is Tonight!!

Recommended Posts

Ack! I'm so excited but so nervous at the same time!! I haven't worn the dress since I bought it in October (they keep the dress at the store right up until your wedding date because they claim the store is temperature and humidity controlled for dresses....I kind of wonder if they don't just say that so they can let other girls try them on...THEY BETTER NOT! lol...) and my weight seems to be yo-yoing lately since I haven't been able to keep up with my healthy eating since the holiday season has started. So basically on any given day I weight what I did in October when I bought the dress to 4 or 5 lbs heavier...would it make much of a difference? I'll be so upset if it doesn't fit like it did before.

Sorry to ramble, just really stressed!! sad.gif

Best of luck tonight! I haven't had my first fitting yet, but I think about my weight and the dress everyday! If it's only a few pounds you should be OK. My BFF drop a lot of weight the last two weeks prior to the wedding because of the strees...

I'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy the moment and have fun! Are you going with friends or family?

Awww thanks for all your support ladies! I went for my fitting tonight and everything went really well, the ladies at the store loved my earrings with my dress and we didn't need to hem the dress as it is the perfect length once my shoes are on.

I decided to go with a standard four button bussel as it was more cost-effective ($48!) and it was simple yet elegant. The seamstress made a beautiful four-tiered French bussel but it would have cost me an extra $300 alone, and to me, it's just not worth it lol. I'm also getting the bust taken in so that alone is costing $200 as the top of my dress has a lot of lace and beading. Grand total for alterations right now is $248...is that a fair price? I went ahead with it but I am curious to find out what others have paid.

Pics to follow as soon as I can figure out how to get them off my damned cell phone hehe.

Tiffiney - hehe sorry to make you paranoid wink.gif This is what is on my mind when I have nothing else to occupy it haha!

Yaaa the first fitting!! Glad it went well. 250 I think is pretty standard, of course it depends on the dress. but when i was deciding on my dress I asked the ladies at the shop what the rate was for alterations and they said it varies - 175 up to 300. I paid $100 for mine, but very little was done to it.

Can't wait to see the pics!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
