Any Grand Bahia Principe Brides (Run Away Bay)?

I am trying to decide if I should get married at the RIU Ochos Rios or the newest hotel in Jamaica, Grand Bahia Principe?

If you have gone for vacation, know someone who has or even got married there, please send me your reviews and pics.

I am not a Bahia Bride but I have heard great things about the Bahia in Jamaica. A colleague of mine stayed there last year and said she it was beautiful and she would get married there. We contemplated Bahia but went with the ROR instead. One of the main reasons being the Bahia have recently changed thier wedding pricing drastically and with the number of guests and their needs that we are anticipating the Riu was a better fit for us.

We have stayed at the Bahia in Punta Cana and it was great! That is where we got engaged actually. We upgraded ($50) to the Royal Golden package that Air Transat offers and got a few extras. We met a couple and watched thier wedding while we were there, we also spoke with them next day and they said it was perfect.

Good luck with trying to make a decision.

kurz, we are getting married at the GBPJ in about 2 months :) And I can let you know after the wedding how it was.. When deciding the resort, think about the location you want to be married in, beach, gazebo, etc.. And the number of people attending will also help with the decision..

What I would do is contact the wedding planners at both resorts and have them send you the wedding planning stuff.. it will have quotes with prices and details of what wedding they do and where :)

Hope that helps!

I stayed at the Gran Bahia about 8 months after they first opened and it was amazing! Everything was really good. It seems like there was some staffing issues but nothing that bothered us. The beach area is off to the side at this resort so it's a little weird from what I'm used to but it was still very nice. I think you'll be happy with this resort if you decide to have your wedding there.

I have been to both resorts and recommend the RIU Ocho Rios. The beach at the Gran Bahia is not very nice. It's man made and hard on the feet. I also found the food & service at the RIU to be better. I would feel bad to bring a group of family/friends there.

Although, one good thing about the Gran Bahia is the wedding gazebo which is very private. Hope this helps!

I've heard great things about the Gran Bahia in Jamaica. I've stayed at the one in Mexico and know people who've stayed at the ones in Punta Cana and Jamaica and they were all pleased. Although we love this chain of hotels we've decided to go with a RIU simply because of the free/cheaper wedding packages. We wanted to do a destination wedding to cut down on costs so paying $50 per person at a destination wasn't for us.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
