Boarding Pass Question

I love these boarding passes! I have finished the design on my own and now need to print and cut out. I am thinking it will take them somewhere to get printed since I don't have a very nice printer at home. I am wondering if EVERYBODY cut these things by hand? Was anyone able to either find paper that looked like the ticket, or find a printer who would do it for you?

 

I'm all about the hard work and DIY, but aye yay yay! I'm afraid that I will mess them up in the cutting process.

I had mine printed at Staples and then cut them all by hand myself. I used a rotary cutter for the straight edges. Then I bought little corner punches from Michael's for the edges of the boarding passes. I still had to use scissors to cut out that little "triangle" shaped piece at the perforated edge. That part was definitely the most tedious! I made 50.

 

I wonder if you could send your file to someone who makes invitations and pay to have them print and cut them for you?

I printed all of mine and cut each one by hand. It was tedious, but well worth it. Based on a lot of the threads, most of us either used scissors or the rotary cutter. It's definitely a lot of work and time consuming. I created 100 invitations. I had to take breaks often. It took me a couple of weeks to complete the entire project (ordering paper, printing, cutting, assembly & mailing).

My FI and I sent out over 100. We designed it, took it to Staples to print it out on 80 lb cardstock, the cut them out and then we finished up by using a rotary cutter to make the cut that Staples did a little more even. We used the perforator to make it really look like a ticket and then used the corner punch for the edges but also used it to make the triangular edges to make the boarding passes look "real". If you do this method, only roll the perforator on the rotary over it once because you need to fold it over to use the corner punch to get that "triangle" shape. It is very tedious. If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help out!

We also cut our ourselves we did use the corner cutter that we got a staples which was a great help. It takes a lot of time but our guests loved them.

it was a good 2 weeks worth of "after-work" effort.

 

but i did almost all of it myself. if DH would have helped it would have went twice as fast!!

I used a paper cutter for the straight edges, then used a corner rounder for the edges and cut the tiny triangle myself which was the most tedious.. but they looked great

I had the printer cut, crop, perforate and staple mine together. I had over 300 people invited and each invite was six tickets long, so I was NOT signing up for that project! It was less then $100 to do all that at the printer I used.

 

I had a crazy high quote (something like $600) from Fedex/Kinko's to do the same job, but I did find out that they only charge $3/cut. Or something close to that. So for the whole pile to be cut into thirds, it would only be $6. Totally worth it in my opinion, if you don't want to cut them yourself.

 

Oh, and after I got them back from the printer, I used a corner cutter to give nice rounded edges. My hands were so sore from doing that!

FANTASTIC!!! This is exactly what I am looking for! Can you send me the info on the printer you used? I would love to call and see if I can have them do mine and then ship them to me. That would be OUTSTANDING!

I had a deal cuz I knew a girl that used to work there, but I have used them for other things and they are usually pretty good prices. Here is the website - Minuteman Press of Doylestown, PA. You can tell them that I recommended them to you, and mention that it's for boarding passes if they don't remember my name.

 

I just realized that I never even thought to ask if they could perform the additional corner cutting, so that's something to ask also. If you have a HUGE pile like I did, it would be worth it to pay extra.
