AHR question

Recommended Posts

How long after the wedding does everyone wait to have an AHR? I want it to be long enough for FI family to travel again, but I live in NE and dont want it to be in winter, so the 1 year anniversary wouldnt work as our date is Nov 7. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

Im in the same situation. We are trying to decide when to have our AHR. We are getting married 4/16/9. 5/22/9 is available at the place we would like to have our reception. My mom thinks we should have it within a week or 2 of returning from our wedding. But photos/video will take over a month to receive from the photographer. We really want to have our wedding video and photos played at the reception, so I think we are going to have it about a month after returning. But I think really its what will work best for you.:)

We are planning on a summer vacation to Newfoundland - that is when we will have our AHR aka Backyard BBQ Celebration!! We typically go "home" every summer, so it was kind of a no-brainer!!

If you want it to be warm, then why not the summer after your wedding?? It is a new year...so people's vacation days from work should not be a problem. And it's still 8 or 9 months from your DW.

Hey that is a great date! Mine too! I am thinking we are waiting till the spring our first date was April 7th a long time ago now so we are maybe thinking then or around that time.. Haven't really decided on that part yet... maybe do it on a special day that has meaning to you both sometime warm perhaps....

It doesn't really matter when you decide on having your AHR... some do it right away once they get back and others wait a few months or more til the weather is better in your region to have something relaxed and outdoors. I was married on Nov 8th this year and our AHR is scheduled in a few weeks on Jan 17, 09. No way did we want to compete with people and the holidays... trying to fit everything in ones schedule this time of year is just nuts.... Jan we picked because it is the time of big let down (I guess) Christmas is now gone... and people don't have much to do in Jan... slow month for everyone. Living up here in the Northeast... Winter plays a huge part in how people schedule things.. we opted for an afternoon reception (No one likes to drive at night... nevermind if it's snowing) at a resturant that has a ballroom. Since it's Jan super cheap.. and this year we helped them decide on a Beach Party for New Years Eve... sooo I get to use all the decorations for my reception free.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
