I'm worried about getting all of my decorations, favours, and OOT bag items there. Did you have any issues?  I've heard that some people fill Golf Bags with this stuff, because it doesn't count towards your luggage allowance. We have a 1 year old little boy, so I have to bring so much with us!

Hi GPJ Brides... I have a couple of questions that I do not believe have been asked/answered yet. I will have about 45 ppl booked and there are a few things that I could use some clarification on.  I am very "anal" at times (unofficially self-diagnosed as CRAZY LOLsmile43.gif)

(1) Will the cake be sufficient for 45+ ppl.  Do they add additional layers or just include a side cake?  I've asked this question but the response was too vague to me.  Is it worth buying cake boxes for guests?

(2) Does anyone have pictures of the reception area without their own additions?

(3) How did you distribute your OOT bags?

(4) Do they provide any decorations for the cake/table/etc.  And I assume if you have a private reception the cake is provided then.. if you dont, its provided at the ceremony?

(5) Do they supply cake cutters?  If so, did anyone decorate with ribbon?  Anyone care to describe them if so?

(6) Did you mail anything there instead of traveling with it?

I did not have any issues. We flew American airlines. They allow you to check 2 bags and have 1 carry on plus a personal item.

1. The cake they provide is not fancy. It is very basic. It tasted very good. We had the vanilla sponge. It was 2 tier. They used a wine glass to hold up the second layer. It was my understanding they would put flowers on it for you. Other brides had commented that the flowers did not match their colors. I decided to just add them to my flower order, so they would. I am glad that I brought my own decorations for the cake. Most guest did not eat cake. We had plenty. There were 32 of us. They put the small flower arrangement from the signing table on the cake table. I did not upgrade this arrangement. It was tiny. The frosting melts pretty fast in the heat. I did not box up the cake.

2. My understanding is that they put small candles on the guest tables and place the flower arrangements (2 12" round arrangements) from the ceremony on the head table. Not positive about this because I went crazy with Tai Flora. I had flowers everywhere!

3. I greet my guests as they arrived with their OOT bags.

4. I think I covered most of this in 1. I had a private reception so I never asked about when they would serve the cake.

5. They did supply the cake cutter. It had a white ribbon on it.

6. I did not mail anything.

I would make sure you tell them you need cake for 45 people and ask them how they will accommodate that - I wouldn't bother with cake boxes as there is so much food that people really don't need to take anything back to the room, much less home

I gave some out to my friends and family before the wedding, at home, which made my life so much easier - I got that idea from another bride - it made less for me to pack and they were thrilled to get a "gift" before the wedding - I just made sure to tell them to bring their "big cup" and the time line with them so they'd know what was going on.  The rest I brought unassembled (easier to pack that way) and put them together when I got there, and handed them out to people as they arrived.

My cake had purple flowers on it - they were plastic and matched just fine.  They put the flowers from the arches at the beach ceremony on the tables, and I also brought a bunch of votive candles to scatter around the tables, along with multi colored placemats for color.

I was strongly cautioned against mailing anything - if they lose it in shipping, you are totally screwed.

This link should take you to all of my wedding pics taken by friends and it shows the reception (not private) and all the stuff we did.

SexyLittleCaboBride - we had my dress, his suit, 2 suitcases, a duffelbag and my pocketbook and we were fine - we flew AirJamaica.

My parents took my dress home for me though.

MS Whatever - isn't the marriage certificate pretty?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
