HELP Grand Palladium Brides!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies I'm a newbie that has been stalking this thread for 2 weeks I will be getting married at th Grand Palladium MAY 21, 2011 and I just wanted to say how much this thread has helped me in good and bad ways, bad because everything I see I want it so the cost keeps going up but anywho I didn't  have a clue when it comes to planning a wedding until i found this site (wish I would have found it prior to booking my wedding) so I have a couple of dumb questions I know what a OOT bag is but what does OOT  stand for and also what is the difference between a  place card and a escort card and exactly what are they for? LOL I have no clue

Did anyone do a sand ceremony? If so where do they do that in the ceremony? And as far as signing the papers do you do that and then they announce you man and wife? Or do they announce you man and wife and then have you sign?

Also who did a cake at cermony site? I see pictures of some people saying the cake the cake for the reception but then I see couples who had the cake and champage at the ceremony...just curious how that works if you were planning on having the cocktail hour after with drinks and appetizers?

Here is the ceremony order Nina sent me. I would place it before the kiss.

Usually the ceremony will proceed as follows:

-          Bridesmaid Processional

-          Bride Processional

-          Introduction of Ceremony

-          Exchange of Vows

-          Prayer for Couple

-          Kiss of Couple

-          Signing of Documents

-          Introduction of New Couple

-          Recessional and Toasting

There is no strict set of rules as it applies to the ceremony, this can be altered based on the couples preference.

Where you have the cake is your choice. They will do it however you would like. I had mine at the reception because my wedding was at 4pm. There was only 1 hour between the two events. Pictures ate up that hour quick! Now if my wedding was earlier in the day with a longer break between the two events, I would have had the cake at the ceremony site with a cocktail hour.

OOT = Out Of Town  ( As I understand it!)

Place cards are placed at the table to mark that guests assigned seat. Cards should have the guests name. Mine were mini beach chairs with ribbon. See picture

Escort cards are used to help guests find their assigned seat. Cards should have the guests name and table number. Mine were paper beach chairs with ribbon attached to lollypop sticks. see picture.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much, your wedding was absolutely beautiful the cake was so creative I loved the sand idea!! I read that if you send a pic of the cake you want they will try to make it. Do you know if they can make a cake with fondant over it I saw 1 that the Ibeostar made that was beautiful?

Ms Whatever.. My wedding is also at 4.  I was thinking of including a cocktail hour because many previous brides said they waited around 3 hours to eat.  So, my thought was everyone would probably eat breakfast; guests may eat lunch.  But most people (including bride) would be starving by 7 or 8 pm.  How did that plan out for your wedding?  If you had to redo, would you have included a cocktail hour?  Thanks again for all your help!

Thank you for the compliments. I do not think fondant will be an option for the provided cake. They will decorate it with the decorations you provide them or they will put flowers on it. The flowers may not match your colors. I decided to make due with the included cake. I read on the forum about cake designers in Jamaica charging $150 - $200 for delivery only. The cakes were around $300 for a plain cake. I did try to contact a couple but not one replied to the emails. I wish you luck in this area. I spend the money I saved on the cake, on entertainment. I am so glad I did.

No I would not have had a cocktail hour if I could redo it. There is no time. If you have one, you will not be able to enjoy it.

Here is how my wedding day went went

4:00 Guests arrive

4:15 Here comes the bride

4:40 Ceremony in over

4:45 Champagne time

5-5:40 pictures

5:45 Infinity bar to meet guests

6:00 reception time. We were late to the reception by 15 minutes.

The meal is a 4 course meal. You will get the first course and cocktails pretty quickly. If you are worried that you will be starved, ask one of your girls to bring you a snack while getting ready.

I had planned to spend 4 hours at the spa. I got an one hour massage, flash facial and my hair done in 2 hours. I would have had plenty of time for lunch.

Spend the money on entertainment. It takes the pressure off of you to entertain and they will not notice the slow service. They will be distracted by the awesomeness of the show!

Thanks! You have been so helpful!  I was planning a cocktail hour as well, but was worried there wouldn't be much time to enjoy it. If my wedding is on the beach and reception at Blue Lagoon, are they far from each other? How much time should we allow to get from the beach to the restaurant?

It really is not that far. Plan on a 5 to 10 minute walk from the beach ceremony site. However, they will have a driver waiting to take you. We sent the driver away and walked from the Gazebo because we wanted pictures from around the resort. They reception will not start without you. Take your time and enjoy your day. They are really relaxed about time in Jamaica. They will not cut your reception short because you are late to it. They never said anything about us going over our time (30-40 minutes). They even seemed disappointed that we were leaving. They really were great to us. I am sure the tipping helped.  cheesy.gif

The Infinity bar is directly above the Blue Lagoon. We meet our guests there for cocktails before the reception. We found it to be a good gathering point. It has a beautiful view and great location.

    • Hi Brides! I have a Wally Bag - 66" available - $90 + shipping (US only) The wally bag typically sells for $120-$180. I used this gown bag once to transport my dress from MN to Mexico for our wedding - IT WAS PERFECT!   I was actually able to pack 4 additional maxi dresses, and my husband's wedding attire, plus a few pairs of shoes and some jewelry. I packed the dress the night before we left, and just moments before we left, I zipped the bag and folded it - ready for travel. It comes up with a nice over-the-shoulder strap, making it really easy to carry through the airports. No issues on Delta with the bag as my carry-on - I chose to put in the overhead bin, but the flight attendant did offer to hang it in the closet for me. Once we got to the resort, about 10 hours after I first folded the bag, I unpacked the bag and my dress was perfect - no wrinkles! My dress was mostly lace and had a bit of a train, but it arrived perfectly!  Honestly, this is the best way to travel with your dress!
    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
