re: flowers.... you can see in our pics how the setup was: Blue Lagoon - "U" shaped set up on Flickr - Photo Sharing! ... we just had a lot of rose petals around the table, and there were three centerpieces (we didn't even know we were going to get those!). the flowers didn't match our colors, but that's alright. It still looked fine. I would ask Nina when you get there if you get flowers with your set-up. If they aren't included, you can just ask her for some

I didn't get back an actual contract to sign when i first signed up.... I sent in my credit card information, and a form with all my wedding information on it, and that was it. A few days before I left for Jamaica, I got a confirmation email and there was an attached contract to sign. If the deposit was taken from your credit card, and she already confirmed your dates, then you should be fine. :)

Great stuff, thanks! You and the other past brides have been so helpful. I would be going crazy if it wasn't for you guys!!smile03.gif

Hi Everyone - just wanted to let you know I heard from Felicia in the wedding office today. She wanted to confirm my wedding details and talk to me about menus and flower details. She sounded very on the ball - I'm so excited! We also decided to get married in Jamaica rather than here first and will be doing the Carribean Package.

Great news!! Did Felicia call you or were you able to just catch her in the office? I too am thinking about changing from marrying here first, it doesn't seem like there is opportunity to save money anymore. Have you been quoted a 2010 price per person for the carribean package yet? How many guests are you expecting?

She called me and left a message yesterday and I called her back today. she answered the phone at the extension 876-619-0000- ext8251

I didn't even ask her about the price - I'm hoping for 25 people - right now I have 8 people + us confirmed - my RSVPs are due 12/31. The thing I have says $2000 for the Caribbean package + $50 for over 8 people.

FI decided if we are having everyone come out to Jamaica for a wedding, we'd better have a real wedding out there...I don't think it will be much more $$$ either.

She also asked me about the photographer. I just told her to send me the info - I'm having SunGold take my pictures - they told me they've never had any problems getting on the resort but I didn't think I needed to mention it to her ; )

Great update, thanks! I will try calling again.
OK, those are the same prices I saw, was just concerned because the package I have was dated 2008.

I hear you on the part about getting married down there. I started thinkig the same thing. If it's not going to cost us much more, I would rather have the real deal be in Jamaica!

SunGold is amazing, I tried reaching out to them but they were already booked for my wedding day!msncry.gif

Can people advise me how you are getting around using a local outside photographer?

Everyone that I have talked to there keeps telling me explicitly that we are not allowed to use any photographers that are jamaican, it doesn't matter if they are my guests or have a room.

I really do like this resort, but I want real photos.

Thanks!

My understanding is that if they are a guest at your wedding then they can do whatever they want. Either buy them a day pass or reserve them a room at the resort. It sounds to be a pretty easy way around the policy. I just would not mention they were a local photogragher. I would simply tell the wc that the resort photogragher is not needed. This has been done many times without a problem.

Agree 100% - My photographer told me she's never had a problem there.

Question for past GP Brides - I wanted to upgrade my flowers and they want to charge me $385USD for the bridal bouquet. That sounds like a lot of $$ to me but maybe I'm just naive?

I am having the same issue. I think Tai Flora is one of the most expensive florists. I am going to get quotes from floralfantasiesjamaica.com before I pick anything with the resort. There are a couple wholesale florists in Negril and Montego Bay. I think I am getting my centerpieces from there. They have to be cheaper than the resort ordering them. I just have to have someone go pick them up the day of the wedding.

I sent Tai flora a pic of the bouquet I wanted. They quoted me $135. I then asked the resort what the upgraded cost would be to replace the provided flowers with the quoted flowers. It turned out to be $87 my cost. I guess it depends on the flowers you want. I would love to see a pic of the flowers you were quoted $385 for!!

FYI: I also got a quote for the same bouquet from Floral Fantasies for $180.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
