HELP Grand Palladium Brides!!!!

Does anyone know what the differences really are between the packages? It seems like the price jumps up hugely (both the base and the per person rates) for each package, but the new additions seem to only benefit the bride and groom (i.e. spa packages).

Also, does anyone know how much it costs to golf there?

This is not like a 5 star hotel in the states. Their rates are super cheap for an all inclusive. You will not find another AI resort of this caliber for this price.

Other exciting news....we just booked 4 nights at The Caves in Negril in July since we never got any time to ourselves after the wedding!friday.gif
Turk- you hit the nail right on the head! And congrats on your honeymoon at The Caves! cheers.gif

Just a few other general questions....

Did you all use the group coordinator to set up your rooms? I'm getting worried now because I decided to tell people to set up their rooms through expedia (because it came out to be cheaper!). Did you guys have suites that were close to each other?
I'm not sure how it all works with Expedia, but we had a TA (just for booking help- no group rates) and left the booking up to our guests, since some of them found good deals on bookit, cheapcaribbean, etc.

But you can submit a room request to the hotel a week before your scheduled arrival: Room Requests

When we were there, the resort was at or near capacity, but except for the late arrivals (those that came in late Friday or early Saturday), we all got rooms in buildings 11, 12, and 24.

Here's the resort map so you can see where the buildings are in relation to each other: http://palladiumaddict.net/JP/Docs/ResortMap.jpg

Quick question for you. I read in your prep thread that you got a groom's cake from a local bakery. My fiance's mom's side of the fam is Jamaican and they would like for him to also have a groom's cake to give out to guests. (I am freaking because the request is kinda in the 11th hour worried2.gif) Is the bakery close to GP and did they deliver the cake? Would you happen to have the info if they did in fact deliver? BTW, thanks so much for giving insight into the table setup at blue lagoon!

Thanks so much!!

Nashay
Hey Nashay,

My cousin in Montego Bay actually arranged for the cake, and brought it with him to GPJ, so I'm not exactly sure who made it... I'll see if my mom knows & if so, I'll share the info!

Jackie

Do not go with the DJ unless they agree to play during dinner or later into the night. With the amount of guests you have, dinner will probably take 3 hours (remember Jamaica time?) It seems you must have a small guest list in order to take full advantage of the time you are paying for. There have been a few posts where the couple paid for 3-4 hours but only received 1-2 hours of music. On the other hand, one bride stated the DJ had all requested songs with the exception of one

Heres a great link for Q & A about the resort itself to pass on to your guests

Palmtree...one of our guests is a big time golfer...He said prices are absolutely absurd! Needless to say, he didn't golf.

Hi All, Quick question:

Do they supply a set up for you to play music during the ceremony or do you have to rent and does it have to be a CD or can you use an ipod? Also would anyone know if it does have to be a CD do they have any trouble playing burned CDs? I know you have to rent speakers for the reception.

Thanks!

Thank you, Petals!! :)

I have another question... we wanted to buy gifts for all our guests... is there a place that you can recommend that is near the hotel where we can pick up some gifts or just general Jamaica souvenirs to put into gift bags?

also - do you know if the hotel will deliver the gifts to the guests' rooms?

You could get a driver to take you to Negril or Montego Bay to buy some souvenirs-- the gift shops at the hotel are very pricey.

If we had fewer guests, I was considering getting them these... very cute!

Floral Fantasy; Flowers for All Occasions from Negril, Jamaica / Gift Baskets

And I doubt the hotel will deliver the gifts, but they may for an extra charge. I didn't ask.

I am wondering the same thing. How does the music work at the ceremony?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
