I guess I'm back to the tropical package too. It's what I wanted originally, but then I was told the same as you Petals. I think we should invite Jascynthia to this forum so that she can clarify what is what and make sure we are all being told the same things.

Exactly, girls! We need to get a straight answer on this. Because I would loove to switch to the Tropical package if it's true that I can still have a private reception for $300.

Caroline's GPJ wedding was yesterday so maybe when she comes back, she can help to answer some of these questions for us too.

Yay- another Memorial Day weekend GPJ bride! (I will spare you my rant about Air Jamaica canceling the Monday flight back to Chicago, forcing my parents to return Sunday instead.....)

Hi girls -

Here is the latest info from Jascynthia (see below)

I am attaching the dinner options that are included in the Tropical Package which is one of a la carte restaurants. You will need to choose one of the restaurant menus from which you will then choose one each of the courses ordered to make the set menu for your reception. I have an additional menu to send and will attach it later.

Please understand the Blue Lagoon is only used for breakfast and lunch but not for dinner, which is why it is possible to rent it privately for dinner. You will eat their but with the menu from one of the a la cartes.

Rental of speakers and microphone will be USD200.00 for the duration of the three hour reception. i.e. 6pm to 9pm.

If anyone needs the a la carte menus I can email them to you

Thanks for this info! So it's true... we actually can still rent the Blue Lagoon for dinner for $300 if we get the Tropical package!

I'll PM you my e-mail address for the menus. Thanks!!

Here is the email she sent..............

Let me see if I can explain a little more…

None of the wedding packages comes with a private dinner. The Caribbean package comes with different/special MENU options where as with the other wedding packages you choose a SET menu from the regular a la carte menu that is being served in the restaurant. Because a private dinner is not included in the package, we cannot allow music/entertainment to take place where the dinner is being served, as there will be other guests dining there also ( at the same time) and this will disrupt their dinner.

Therefore any group wishing to have music/entertainment at dinner MUST rent the restaurant to ensure privacy and will therefore be able to pay for the type of entertainment they want to have there.

I have explained this to a number of persons who have requested the information and I do not understand why there is confusion. This has always been the policy, it is not something that has been implemented since my arrival here at the hotel.

I am happy to clarify whatever misunderstanding there is out there. What forum are you on and how do I get onhuh.gif

I hope this clears things up a little better.

Kind regards

(The ones that say “Caribbean Pkg” on top). Once you have chosen the menu you prefer, we will book the entire group that attended the ceremony and paid the per person charge, in one of the a la carte restaurants and serve the chosen menu. This booking will not be private as the a la carte restaurant will have others dining (only the menu is special in this case). If you do not want to dine with other guests you may pay USD300.00 and we will guarantee privacy in one of the restaurants (only your group will dine there).

For the tropical package, it includes up to 8 persons (including the bride and the groom). Any additional person who attend the wedding will attract a cost of US30.00 per person. This will provide additional chairs and coves , champagne and cake for everbody. For dinner, we will book your group in one of our ala carte restaurants. They will choose from the regular restaurant menu, one of each course which is then used to make a set menu for the wedding group. The restaurant will also have other diners. If privacy is required you pay the USd300.00 venue fee.

For the romance package, it includes up to 8 persons (including the bride and the groom). Any additional person who attend the wedding will attract a cost of US40.00 per person. This will provide additional chairs and coves , champagne and cake for everbody. For dinner, we will book your group in one of our ala carte restaurants. They will choose from the regular restaurant menu, one of each course which is then used to make a set menu for the wedding group. The restaurant will also have other diners. I'm still wondering what the menu is and if it can be changedhuh.gif??
I was just re-reading this and noticed that Jascynthia said that the chair covers for the ceremony are included in the per-person rate.... more great news! When I met with Charmaine in September, she said I'd have to pay extra for them.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
