Anyone not love their dress til the wedding day???

Recommended Posts

I'm so glad I'm not the only one feeling like this! I had tried on a bunch of dresses one day but didn't love any. I went back the next day to re-try some on and found a new one that I loved so I bought it right then! It won't be in until March though so I suppose the fact that I can't try it on again makes me afraid that I won't love it on my wedding day.

Like other girls have said, I think it's all the different dresses I see online and in magazines that make me second guess myself. Sometimes I think maybe I should have tried on more dresses at different stores. I have to keep reminding myself that the dresses that I'm usually drawn to in pictures didn't look good on my petite frame and that's why I chose (and loved) the one I bought!

i'm right there with you. i LOVED my dress when i tried it on teh first time that i didnt want to try anything else on!

now looking at the new fall 2009 dresses from the runway, i'm having second thoughts! i won't see my dress until march so i'm really nervous.

my best advice is...and from what everyone has been telling me... remind yourself of how happy and giddy you were when you tried on your dress and called it "the one."

hope everything works out! =)

I totally understand now what you all are talking about...

I just tried my dress on today for the first time since I ordered it 5 months ago.

It's a beautiful dress, but, I just don't feel super excited about it right now....there are parts of it that I'm just not liking now and I'm not even sure if I like the way I look in it. I know that I tried on at least 50 dresses before this one, but, I can't help thinking that I made the wrong choice because i've seen others recently that I think I like better.

I'm glad to know others felt the same....I'm hoping the day of the wedding, I'll feel differently...but, it kinda sucks to feel this way.

Especially since I joined these forums, I find that I'm more worried about my dress every day! It's really frustrating to do anything wedding-related after buying a dress (such as looking at bridal magazines) because there are amazing dresses plastered all over the place! I too worry that I got talked into my dress, or that I was sick of just not choosing a dress (I literally went to about 20 stores in 3 different cities) but I figure if I went that long without picking something I could've gone longer, so I must've liked it!

Another thing that I constantly remind myself of is that the dresses in the magazines are definitely NOT always great in person. There were a few that I completely fell in love with, and then once I tracked them down and tried them on I thought they were terrible (they looked cheaper or not as nicely finished, or just plain didn't suit me).

If you're feeling insecure, try bringing a friend or family-member to a fitting to see what they think. Us brides tend to over-think everything and constantly look for the next-best thing, but I've found that the people I'm close to are always good for a reality check.

Great points! I totally agree that if I didn't look at other dresses here and in magazines, I would probably be ok with my dress. Also, I've had the same experience of tracking down dresses only to find that I don't like them on me or in person. I have to keep reminding myself how special I felt when I first put my dress on and how my sister (who hates wedding dresses!) actually cried! My sister and Mom have been nothing but reassuring to me...but, there is just this little part of me that feels I could've done better.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
