Wedding Coordinator Refferals

Just sort of started the wedding planning process...going to Cabo in May for a scouting trip...probably the only one we will get to take.

Need to:

1) Pick a place

2) Pick a date (probably will depend on the availability of the resort)

3) Do everything else :)

I was just wondering if it is important to have a wedding coord picked out for our scouting trip in order to show us around? Or if it is okay for us to try it alone.

Just asking for opinions about what wedding coordinator you used/are using (if anyone). Who were you happy with? Who we should stear clear of? What sort of dollar amount I am looking at...both initally, and then for the actual wedding... Any info you have is GREATLY appreciated!

I'm kind of the independent traveler type so I think it's fine to go alone. Depends on how comfortable you feel and how much you are able to communicate with each venue beforehand. What are some of the sites on your list?

Sorry if you posted this elsewhere, but what are you looking for in general? Like: size, all-inclusive or not, budget, etc

When I was in Cabo last may I had my mom and sister and I meet up with Maya Cortinas...She was very helpful and took us to all hotels and helped us discuss wedding stuff to hotel coordinators...

She was very helpful...When I go again to Cabo this July and do another site visit for Erik I'm having her meet us and come with us again.

So best bet sounds like to call down to the venues before hand and set up some appointments with the wedding coords at the hotels...huh.gif

I was really wanting to have the wedding at one of the Pedregal villas, but that is looking less and less probable (due to cost, etc). We are thinking RIU...went and saw a few others in Nov: hilton, melia, one and only, dreams, riu (but we were only there for a day so it was pretty rushed, didn't really get to talk to anyone, just grabbed a brochure at each place). Just loved RIU immediately, it is so dramatic...and my FI family will like that it is all inclusive.

BTW, Your wedding looked absolutely gorgeous

thanks!

If you want to look at a private-ish hotel (almost like a villa, maybe?) then I'd recommend looking at the Cabo Surf Hotel. (Yes I am biased but oh well.)

If you are thinking all-inclusive I'd also look at Dreams. Oh wait, I just read that you went there, duh. Lots of Dreams Cabo brides on here if you need help.

Hilton has a great on-site wedding coord. - Lots of Hilton brides on this board too.

One and Only would be AMAZING, but also $$$$$$$$!

Casa del Mar is another you might consider?

Meghan I would say just to write her an email or Call her up...she always answers back quickly. She's very friendly and works with your schedule. I called her up 3 months ago to set up a time to meet this July...She immediately wrote me back and Claudia from Casa del Mar to save the date to meet and talk altogether.

If you need her info pm me

You don't need to have a coordinator for your sight visit but I think it would be helpful to at least meet with potentiasl coordinators since this will be your only visit prior to the wedding.

The great thing about Maye and other independant coordinators is that their prices tend to be a lot lower than the prices the hotel coordinators give you. It's worthwhile (in my opinion) but only if you are in fact doing all the "extras" that are sometimes considered basics (flowers, music, photos, video, vase rentals, bus transpos, etc. etc. etc.)

However no matter what you should definitely set-up meetings with the hotels/restaurants/etc. before you go because if you just show up there will be no one to show you around the place and really talk about the wedding. Depending on what kind of place you're looking for I can post up contact info for a lot of the hotels etc...

I'm using Maye too. She has been so wonderful to work with. Always replying to emails in a timely fashion and willing to help with ideas and suggestions. I wasn't going to use a coordinator at first, but didn't want to be worried about "the flow" of my wedding day. I wish I would've met her last August when we down for our site visit, but I hadn't hired her then.

If I were you I'd email her about her fees and availability for your date or month. You can always decide after you have the info if you want to hire her or not.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
