Do you ever regret going cheap on the OOT bags themselves?

Recommended Posts

I personally went with a slightly more expensive bag than what was at cheaptotes.com. I order a few from them as samples, which are now my farmer's market shopping bags. wink.gif

I figured that, since my guests were coming to our DW at their expense, I could shell out a bit more for their OOTs. I was lucky too. I found the canvas beach bags for half the price that were listed on Amazon. They were very large, thick canvas beach totes. I was extremely happy with the decision.

I opted for paper gift bags in lieu of canvas totes for the OOT bags for all of the wedding guests. For the wedding party, I purchased soft-sided cooler bags @ $14 each. They were the perfect size for 2 water bottles, a Maui tourist guidebook, a welcome letter, snacks, a wedding day map, timeline, sunscreen packets and insect repellant packets.

Every single wedding guest pulled me aside to tell me how much they appreciated the thoughfulness of the OOT bag. That was payment enough.

As for the wedding party, they all used the cooler bags the entire trip. All of my bridesmaids are using them for their lunch bags.

I didn't want to spend a lot, but I didn't want to go cheap. I knew I would regret it in the end. I'm not a big fan of the canvas bags, mostly cause I knew that none of my guests would use them again. I wanted a bag they would use, otherwise why do bags at all? I waited and just kept looking for bags. Theses are my bags:

I'm so glad someone else likes them as much as me! Thanks Tracy! I got them at Walmart for $3 each. These are our favors so I wanted something really worth it, plus these people traveled all that way for our wedding. We do have a few single males coming and we're going to give them a string backpack.

I know if you're looking for a cheaper kind of bag you can go with these:

Welcome to Ailana Kai they are cheap, cute, and very destination like. I think one of the other girls might have already posted this site.

Or if you were thinking along the lines of something similar to the canvas bags Pier 1 has "shopping bags" as they call them. They are totes similar to the canvas, but aren't canvas and are in color. I think right now they have their fall selection so they are all blue & brown, pink & brown, or green & brown. But they are cute, I think people would use them more than a canvas tote and they are $2.99 each.

Really if you have the money to spend, wait until you find something you absolutely love and have to have and you'll be happiest. If you don't have the money do some searching, you'll find something for sure.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
