White Elephant Gift Exchange...

I did this one year with a group of guys that I worked with (worked in a motorcycle shop, so I was the only girl) I picked something I knew they would hate to get. I picked on them in that way. I picked out one of my old cookbooks, that i never used anymore, and used that....I ended up getting a lovely motorcycle keychain. Yippy!

Another thing is just look around your house and see what you can find. One of the guys I worked with brought one of his sons old Transformers. White Elephant is normally a funny gift that you just have no need for anymore.

Hope this helps you a little.

I would just give anything you dont want anymore or even a gift you got that you have never used. we are planning on doing this a my work this year but are calling it a re-gifting exchange and doing in after new years. i always get crappy/have no use for gifts from my FMIL so i'll have a couple of years worth of stuff to choose from!!!

If you're supposed to bring something new (white elephant has traditionally meant something from your home that you don't need/want anymore, but has now expanded it's meaning to include a gift exchange with "stealing" rules), go with something fun or silly.

In the past I've brought a bottle of white wine the label of which read "Cheap White Wine", kitchen gadets shaped like odd things, Bubble bath for "dirty" girls, etc.

If it is a white elephant of the traditional sense (something you already own but don't want), make sure it's in perfect condition. But the notion of silly or fun still applies.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
