Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

So - just got word about different dates that are available.  Assuming a Sunday through Sunday stay ... does a 2pm Tuesday ceremony or a 4pm Wednesday ceremony make the most sense?  I would love to have it Tuesday, but that's awfully early in the day ... Any thoughts? Comments?  Opinions? Experiences?  I would love to hear them all!

Thanks!

Hey TriSport!

Personally I would go for the 4pm Wednesday for a couple of reasons.

1) To avoid melting during the mid-afternoon

2) You'll get better light and therefore better pictures later in the day

3) Most of the wedding packages include a 3 hour reception so if you'd like your party to go later into the night without paying for too many extra hours the 4pm would fit better

On a side note, you might want to check the typical sunset time in November because that could affect the number of day time pictures you'd like.  I'm a little nontraditional so we're doing the bulk of our pictures before the ceremony. Hope that helps :-)

Thanks!  As much as I would have liked the Tuesday (just gets it out of the way sooner in the week), I agree with your points about the 4pm.

I have suggested the pictures beforehand to the FI ... and I got 'the look'.  You know the one where he looks at you as if you have 3 heads? Ya.  That one.  cheesy.gif  He's VERY traditional, so we'll be doing pictures after!

Does the reception have to start right away do you know? Or could we start that later ... I was thinking 4pm ceremony, 6pm cocktails, 7pm dinner, 9pm ... dance?

Thanks!

@TriSport

Aww I think it's cute he's the traditional type. In my opinion you can totally have the reception/cocktails later on. I think most weddings are like this anyway. I actually went to a wedding where the ceremony was at 1pm and the reception wasn't until 6:30pm.  BTW I totally get wanting to get the wedding done early in the week. Our trip is also a Sun to Sun and we're not getting married until FRIDAY!  It's all so we can accommodate one of our guests work schedules (she's only coming for 3 days). My biggest fear is burning and tan lines...lol the search is on for a good strapless bikini!

@Countrybride

I totally didn't realize the resort doesn't offer steaming!  I've actually never steamed anything in my life so I'd have no idea how easy or difficult it might be. If it's easy then I'd say bring your own (even borrow one).  On another note, OMG you're almost a month away!  I'm so looking forward to hearing about your big day!

Hi There, another thing to think about (not sure whether you're planning a civil ceremony down there or just a symbolic) is that for a civil ceremony you need to arrive 3 or 4 days, along with your 4 witnesses, prior to the wedding date. We're just doing a symbolic ceremony, so didn't have to worry about this, but due to a few different arrival dates for our guests are not having the ceremony until 4 days after we arrive. Sooo, we will be using lots of sunscreen and strapless bikinis until the wedding date!

We're getting married at 4 pm in March, and then starting the reception at 7 pm. Hope this helps!

Thank you all for your words of wisdom!

@AwayWeGo - Symbolic Ceremony for us too.  Something about handing over my blood just doesn't sit well with me.

@TropicLover - oh my!  Sunscreen is right!  Big floppy hat and a bandeau style bathingsuit as well?  ;)

So excited to now start planning a few little details.  Not going to do too much - OOT bags for sure, and I would like to do something for centerpieces without breaking the bank, or my back packing everything there!   Can't believe how much good information is on this site.   If you have any other advice/tips/tricks, I'm all ears! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
