Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

@@Leslied sounds like you're pretty much ready to get married, lol!

I'm just going to stick with the basic decorations that the hotel provides... I would like pink chair bows for the ceremony and reception, not sure if they will make me pay extra for that.  If so, I might just bring my own chair bows.

I'm going to put little wooden fans from Michaels on each chair at the ceremony, along with some bubbles and a ceremony program I will make myself.

For the reception, I will print menus and placecards out for each guest, and I'm ordering handpainted maracas from www.maracasartanddesign.com as the favour for each guest.  It will be pink with a white flower, and will have our names on it and the wedding date!

Excellence resorts are so beautiful!  I wanted to get married at Excellence but the rates were too expensive for my guests... I'm sure you and your hubby will have such a great time!  We're just staying at OCT for 1 week and then we'll go to Disneyland in September for our honeymoon :)

This forum was a little quiet for awhile, glad it's picking back up!!! Looks like everyone is pretty prepared. I just went to that webiste to check out the maracs. I looked into them a few times, but never came across the right ones. We have 45 guests, so I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on these, but the ones you found are ADORABLE! I'm browsing their gallery now!

What are you girls doing for flowers? With our Paradise package, we get some...but I would need about 4 or 5 more bouquets for the reception. While reading another thread on here today, I found some clever ideas with faux flowers! Much, much cheaper! Still not sure what I want to do about that one.

Did you book 1 night or two for the photographer? Since the ttd is the day after the wedding would one night be enough?

I'm going to get a second dress for ttd too! I dont want to ruin my wedding dress and i think it would be too heavy once in the water. What package did you go with for your wedding? And how much were you quoted at? The prices they gave me were for 2014.

You are actually required to book 3 nights, but I managed to get it down to two nights since I have a lot of outside vendors! I tried REALLY hard for a minimum of one, but we had to meet in the middle at 2, and I am ok with that. Still cheaper than the vendor fee and day pass fee!!

I agree. I was all about trashing the dress, but my mom was hysterical about it, and since she bought the dress, I agreed to get a second. Once I actually HAD the dress though, I couldn't imagine actually trashing it ahhahah!! You're right- it would be way too heavy! Did you find your second dress yet??? Samuel Luna...oh man, did you see his TTD sessions? Unreal. They look fricken AWESOME!

I went with the Paradise package ( I think ) The most expensive one, since we have over 40 people coming with us, and wanted dinner outside on the terrace, it was perfect for that. I don't remember off the top of my head how much it was, my parents took care of it. I think it was around $4,000? I have my wedding binder at home, I'll take a look at confirm tonight. I think it was a steal, it includes a lot of extras!

We also went with the paradise package and were quoted 4000. I bought little maracas as favors and had some napkins made for dinner with our name and date on it. I dont know if i'll go with much more than that. My travel agent is going to look into the hotel booking for the photographer. Was the hotel policy that said you had to book min 3 nights? I have been looking online at some cute dresses for ttd. lulus.com has a few i like. I'm getting excited but really stressed too. We havent even heard back from a wedding coordinator yet. Its scaring me lol

Ooh, good call, I'll check out Lulus. You have not head from her even once? Who is your coordinator again? I'm sure you've read the comments about this, but really, you don't need to speak to them that much, it all comes together. I'm sure once it gets closer to your date, they will make you top priority. They have a billion weddings going on at all times, so just give it time. I figure, the more I am prepared on my end, the less I need to rely on them to make sure everything is taken care of. SO, fingers crossed and just hope for the best I guess. lol

Yes, the hotel policy is a 3 night stay. Just talk to them about it and see what they can do for you. I have a videographer (2) 2-3 photograhers, and my DJ so There was no way I was paying $500+ for each of them!!!

Oh my goodness that would have been expensive! I think I am just stressing more today because we just bought a house and had to deal with all the paperwork and wedding stuff on top of it all. I am overwhelmed lol Im sure it will all come together. For your bridesmaids are you buying a bouquet for them or going with fake flowers from home?

Wow!! You also sound like you're ready for your wedding!! Great ideas and Im sure it will all turn out great.

As for the chair bows, they do have fuschia at no extra cost!! My colors are fuschia and orange.  I think they charge extra when one wants bows in colors they dont have.

For the maracas, I did so much research as this is what I wanted for favors and have not had any luck so far.  I'll check out the website you provided.  Thanks :)

We can't wait for our wedding but, are equally as excited for our week at Excellence.  We splurged with the ocean view swim-out suite excellence club level.  Like you, we chose Ocean as it was mostly affordable for our guests.  We had looked at Now Jade and Valentin but, way too expensive for our guests.  We've been to Ocean 2 years ago so we know what to expect for our wedding.  Its an awesome resort!!

Good luck with all of your planning.  Let me know how things turn out with Pamela.

Leslie :)

Oops...my reply was for Mrs Sheppard-to-be...Im not too savy with this forum yet...lol!!

I have a question...for the maracas...do you mind telling me how much you paid?  And are you getting it shipped directly to the hotel or to your home so you can bring them with you?  I see they are based in Mexico so just wondering...Thanks :)

I haven't ordered my maracas yet (they recommend you order 1-2 months away).  It might depend on which design you choose, but the simple white flowers design I picked was $4 per maraca (I will give 1 per guest).  And to have it shipped directly to the hotel is around $40.

I think it's a super cute and personal touch to the wedding!  My guests are really looking forward to them :)

They will also be used in lieu of clinking champagne glasses when the bride and groom kiss... instead my guests will be shaking their maracas!  How cute is that?!

Thanks very much for the great maracas information. They promptly returned my email and we will order them this weekend!

Question, does anyone know how many weddings the Ocean Turquesa produces per day?

We have been exchanging emails with "Claudia" and would like the outdoor terrace.  She says it is competely booked outside?  We were not aware of any ther weddings on our day as we had to pick a day from there availability over a year ago?

Anyone have this issue?  Any advice?

Also it sounds like they have a few wedding planners: Ana, Claudia and Pamela......who is the most efficient?

Thanks very much!  :)

When I booked in July(ish), I knew right away that I would have the reception outside, and having the Paradise package, that was included. So it was reserved right away. I recently confirmed this, after seeing some posts about brides having had problems with this, or not being able to have it where they wanted. It was explained that the reason for this is because some brides do not know they have to reserve that particular area in advance, or they have a package that does not include that. There are a few weddings a day, as far as I can tell. So if you did not specify that particular area for that particular day well in advance, then it is probably too late. HOWEVER, I have heard of some brides reserving the French outdoor restaurant.  I know it's quite a bit more, but it looks lovely! When is your wedding?

Hey Sarah,

In our initial correspondence with the hotel, we had 2 requirements.  1) to have the wedding on the beach at sunset and 2) to have our wedding dinner reception outside on the terrace.  It is in every email we sent them.   We went back and forth on a wedding date but we secured one with payment about a nine months ago.  We asked then if anything else was needed to have a deposit to be booked.  The answer was you need to pick a package but we could do this after we confirmed thenumber of  wedding guests traveling to the wedding.  We sent our requests for the entire wedding and to our surprise the terrace is not available.  I have sent an email to the hotel and am waiting to hear back from the hotel representative as well our travel agent is also corresponding with them and will be on Mexico next week on business and will go to the hotel and meet with them.  She told us not to worry the hotel is very good and they will work something out for you.  Fingers crossed!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
