Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

No problem, I'm on this thing everyday getting new ideas (lol I'm slightly addicted).  For the flowers the hotel just sent me a ppt document showing the flowers.  Since I didn't like any of them I don't have it saved, but I'll take a look through my emails to see if I can find it.

As for the linen colours I haven't seen anything from the hotel.  They've basically said to tell them what colour I want...I'm a little skeptical on that because when you say "green" it could mean anything from olive to neon.  I plan on showing her what I'd like and then asking for a picture of what they can do.  If it doesn't work out then I'll just use their white linens and bring a table overlay or runner depending on our set up.  I've actually asked her to see if they can do square tables of 8 people each instead of round or rectangular...I'm still waiting to hear back.

The outside vendor fee for the photographer is a little steep...$400.  I have my photographer booked for 8 hours so it might be lower if you want less time (I'm not sure though).

As for our plans well they change on a weekly basis because I keep getting more ideas!  Haha...I'm also keeping track of all of prices so if things start to get out of hand I'll be able to "pull" something of the list.

Here's what we're doing:

12:30 - 2:30  Hair & make-up, will probably use http://www.stylingtriorivieramaya.com/ (photographer will get there for 1:30pm we're using Sascha Gluck http://www.cancunphotos.net/)

2:30 - 3:30   First look and Bride/Groom pictures. I want to find more of a private area for this as I don't want an audience :-)

3:30 - 4:30   Wedding party pictures

4:30 - 5:00   Make-up retouch, my fiancee will probably change into his second shirt. Lol he sweats a lot so we're getting him 2 identical shirts...still need to buy his outfit, I think March 2012 would be a good time as summer styles come out then.

5:00 - 5:30  Ceremony on Lobby Terrace. We're thinking of offering a cocktail as people are seated. It will be a symbolic ceremony...I found a rock ceremony script that I like so we'll do that.

5:30 - 6:30  Cocktail hour on Terrace. We'll have a 1 hour open bar and will serve appetizers. During this time we'll do pictures with our families

7:00 - 11:00 or midnight  Reception & dancing.  Location is still TBD, but will probably be on one of the terraces. The package only includes a 3 hour reception so depending on our budget we may stop at 11pm or go to midnight.  My sister's reaction to ending at 11pm was "What are we suppose to do after?"  Lol, I responded with "Umm I don't know, go to the pool bar" ;-)  Oh and we'll most likely hire a dj, but to be honest we haven't started looking into prices.

Phew that was a lot...good luck with everything!  Have you sent out your save the dates or invitations yet?

Thank you SO much for the info :) What are your plans for wedding day at OTC?

I have gotten the wedding packages from Ana, but I have not gotten anything showing me what choices I have regarding the flower options or bow/table linen colors. Thanks for the tip on finding pictures of flowers that I like and sending them to Ana ahead of time ( I had not thought of that).  If you don't mind me asking,  how much does the resort charge you to not use their photographer? I looked through some of their pictures online and I thought they were kind of cheesy :(

I'd love to stay in touch with you throughout your planning process to see how things are moving along and share any useful info we might get from Ana, ect.

Thanks again dear!!

LOL I am slightly addicted to!!! Ijust joined this week and can't stay away! You have go so much planning done, you are awesome!  That's so funny that you got two shirts for your guy- reading that made me think of what I good idea that would be for my fiancee too! Serious sweat ball

We aren't getting married until February 2013 so I still have a lot of time. I just started playing around with save the dates, I am going to make them myself with photoshop I'm thinking of doing a 5 x7 card and attaching a magnet with glue dots, the magnet will be formatted to look like a luggagetag and I want to punch a hole into it and tie on a ribbon so it actallly looks like a luggage tag. My fiancee wants to send them out ASAP but I was thinking that would be too early and we should wait until at least January. How far out did you send yours?

I'm assuming the open bar for 1 hour before the reception is an additional charge as well? 7-11 for your reception would be fine. We went to a wedding this pas winter at Barcelo (also in riviera Maya) and afte their reception ended we just moved the part to the lobby bar and had a blast for a few extra hours... for fee :)

Let me know if you find the flower PPT I think Ana is not bothering to spend too much time on me since there are so many other bride contacting her with sooner wedding dates.

Hi guys!  Haven't been on here in a while. Everyone seems so busy!  I have been busy but wanted to respond to some posts I have been reading.  DO NOT USE THE RESORTS PHOTOGRAPHER!!!!!  The pictures are soooooo cheesy and if you are at all anything like me, you will not be happy. Pictures should be important on your list and leaving it to the kids at the resort is not something you want to do. I say kids because that is what they are! They are not professionals at all. They basically go around all day and take pictures of the resorts guests and then later on try to sell the pictures by their little shop in the lobby.  When there is a wedding taking place, they then report to the wedding and take pictures only of the ceremony taking place, nothing else!  They dont even have a resident photographer for the weddings, it is whoever is on staff that day.  I saw this when I was there, believe me, dont go with their photographers. Enough said.  The money you will spend on an outside photographer is WELL WORTH IT!  and the outside vendor fee is too. You also have to pay a day pass fee for your photographer and their assistant. Try to negotiate with Ana. Just think of what you would be spending at home.  I am going with Juan Navarro. He is reasonably priced but Sascha Gluck is too and his work is also nice.

As far as candles, i am bringing floating candles for my centerpeices and also tealights.  Also, about the florsits, Ana has taken a while to get back to me about the florist prices.  I dont know if it is because the flowers I am requesting are hard to get or what but the price she did get back to me was a little expensive.  I might bring fake yellow orchids I saw at Ikea and have Ana bring me just the cylinder vases so my friend can put it together for me while I am getting ready.  Honestly, it will probably be super cheap this way I recreated the centerpeice yesterday at home and you coudn't even tell the flowers were fake!

Tropic Lover! I love the idea of two shirts for the groom!  I am going to suggest that for my fiancee!

Has anyone bought their dress already?  I did and I am seriously on cloud 9! I just bought the shoes and headpeice yesterday! So excited!

@andecker: OMG you have sooooooooo much time I wouldn't worry about the STD's just yet because people will forget.  Jan or Feb 2012 would be perfect.  We sent ours out in June 2011 and had our group booking deadline of mid-August...and even then we had to remind people to book.  People just saw 2012 and didn't even bother looking at the info.  My FMIL didn't even notice that we had a wedding website which was very clearly listed on our boarding pass std, lol.  For now I would suggest telling people that you're doing a destination wedding and then sending the STD's in the new year.  BTW I like the idea of a luggage magnet!  It sounds super cute!

Yes the 1 hour open during cocktail hour is an extra fee.  I did find out that instead of a champagne toast you can do a signature drink!  In our case we're using the signature drink as people walk in a sit down for the ceremony.

I PM'd you the flower ppt so hopefully that came through okay.

@Sandy, I haven't heard back from Ana about my bouquet flowers either.  My TA/Coordinator is doing a site visit this week so I may have some answers when she's back.  Quick question, how many cylinder vases are you bringing and how are you packing them?  I'm trying to get an answer from the resort if they can have 3 glass candles holders at different heights for each table.  If it's too costly I might bring my own, but I'm worrying about the amount of baggage I'll have.

Yay for buying your dress!  I have mine too!  I bought it in April and it was ready in August!  I went to try it on and it's perfect!  They're holding it at the shop and said I should have alterations done 6 weeks before we leave - plenty of time to shape up ;-)  I still haven't found shoes yet, although to be honest I haven't looked that hard.  Believe it or not I'm one of those girls who hates shoe shopping, lol.  I wear a size 10 shoe so finding that size in a store feels impossible!

@Tropic Lover

Ana told me that the florist can provide the 3 cylinders (tall, medium and short) at each table.  She has yet to get back to me with a price for just the cylinders.  She did get back to me with the overall price for my centerpeice if they can find the yellow orchid. It was 70.00 per centerpeice, like I said a bit expensive! That is why I suggested our plan B be me bringing the fake flowers and the floating candles and tealights.  She would provide the cylinders at a cost from the florist.  Honestly, I might go with our plan B  since it will be cheaper and you cant tell the flowers are fake when they are submerged in water! LOL. Right?

I am going in November for my first fitting! I am soooooooooooooooo excited I can hardly wait!  My shoes are Benjamin Adams Charlize Crystal shoe. Everytime I see them, I am in heaven! I am only 5ft. 1' so shoes are a big deal for me! LOL.  I was originally thinking about walking in barefoot for the ceremony and of course having the shoes for the reception but since the heels are 4 inches high it might be hard for them to hem it at the right length for walking barefoot for the ceremony and then having it the right length for the reception right?  Would it be completely selfish of me to walk down the isle with my heels on when my guests will be barefoot on the beach?  Ana said that they can put up a walkway down the isle if I wanted to wear my heels. LOL. I will have to take off the heels anyway for the cocktail on the beach.

Hi Ladies, just wanted to share that my mom just ordered organza chair sashes and a few table runners for my wedding from this site! They just arrived and she said the color is great, and they look good. We plan on bringing these down along with tulle for the huppa on the beach for our ceremony. They're on sale right now for $0.59 each instead of paying $3 each at the resort, and we can hopefully just sell them again on this site after the wedding!

Wow $70 each is a little high.  You new centerpiece idea sounds awesome!  Nobody will ever know especially since the flowers will be submerged in water.

I totally googled your shoes and they are beautiful!  I love them!  And you can totally wear them again...great find!  If I were you I would get the walk way for the aisle.  It will be the first time people see you so you'll want to look fabulous!

BOOKED!  After stalking these forums for a few weeks now, Ocean Coral and Turquesa was the winner.  Thank you all so much for all the information that you've posted.  I'm sure you can understand what a huge help it's been!  We're getting married there November 2012, so I have a while yet before any detailed stuff happens.  Can't wait to hear about other's experiences there!  cheesy.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
