Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Yay congratulations Sandy!  I'm so excited that there's someone else getting married at the resort too!  Lol I've been feeling like I was the only one.  I'm getting married on May 11, 2012!  We're staying on the Turquesa side, but I think the common areas are shared (?).

So you loved the resort?!  Do you have any pictures?  I haven't been, but everything looks fantastic from the website.  I'm thinking of doing our ceremony on the rooftop terrace, but I'm kind of concerned that it would be too windy - did you find that?

How did you find the restaurants?  Were there any that you would recommend for a reception?  I really like the Creperier and the Privilege restaurant, but I'm waiting to hear back on how feasible it would be to have a reception there.

Okay I'm going to stop myself from asking a billion questions, haha I could go on forever.  I'm excited to hear about your trip and planning details!

Hi Tropic Lover! Yay! So happy we are only a two months apart fromthebig day! I have tons of pictures and will send you pics. I just need your email. we really enjoyed the SEnsai restaurant but wouldn't recommend it to host your reception. villa marina was a bit fancier and right next to the beach.. Very romantic. They serve surf and turf. We saw a wedding party there one of the nights we were there. Are you planning on having reception at the pool area next to le crepe restaurant? Ana said they only do that for really big parties because it would mean that they would have to close it off to guests for the night. We are having our reception on the terrace. It was not bad windy when we were there at night. It was just right in July but ask Ana about May wind. I do recommend that you hold your wedding ceremony on the ocean coral side. It is a lot more private and will avoid the chance of random beach goers watching your ceremony. It is roped off. We are having our ceremony there followed by our cocktail hour on the beach just steps away. Feel free to ask me anything else. Remember, we are in this together. Also, one more thing. . . They do not let you have your reception at their nicest restaurant called Fusion, this is because it is exclusive to H10 members and once again this would mean that they would have to close it off for guests but if you are a h10 member, I would recommend it for a rehearsal dinner. Hope this helps.

Thanks Sandy!  It would be awesome if you could send over pictures!  You can use [email protected]

Thanks for the info on the restaurants.  Iâ€m expecting about 40 people in total so I doubt theyâ€d close down the restaurant for that amount.  I wonder if they would if we paid extra, although Iâ€d need them to provide me with the dollar amount before deciding.

The Villa Marina would be nice too, but Iâ€m not a big fan of sharing the space with other people, Iâ€d rather have it to the wedding only ;-)

I do love the terrace so thatâ€s totally an option.  Iâ€ll try and sort out the wind factor.  I wonder if thereâ€s a website that shows the wind patterns for the Mayan over the months, haha.  Did you find the Terrace private enough?  I know itâ€s off the lobby, but Iâ€m thinking theyâ€d close it off if thereâ€s a wedding there.  For your reception on the terrace did Ana say you could have a dance floor set up there too?

Thanks for the tip on Fusion; I like the idea of doing the rehearsal dinner there.  Weâ€re probably staying as Privilege people, but our guests will be regulars.  Iâ€m hoping this will give us a bit of privacy from everyone when we need it.

Good luck with the planning!

I'm getting married November 16 this year :) Congratulations! I'm also trying to decide on ceremony times. Does anyone know what time the sun sets in November? My photographer suggested family/bridal party pics are done 2 hours before sun set, so I was going to base the ceremony on that :)

TropicLover - are you paying extra to have your reception go until midnight??

Hi Chambers2011!

It's so nice that this board is becomming a little more active.  Below is a link to a website which shows the sunset and rise for Cancun in Nov 2011.  You can actually search a specific date for just about any city in the world.  For Nov 16 it says it will set at 5:06 pm.

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=923&month=11&year=2011&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1

For our reception yes I plan to pay a little extra for it to go until midnight.  I'm sure 3 hours is more than enough time, but if our dinner starts at 7pm I didn't want it to be done at 10pm.

How have you been able to work around the outside vendor fees?  My photographer won't require a room for the night, but it's way more affordable to book him a room and call him a guest instead of pay the fee (I think it's $400 or something).

I'm also worried about make-up and hair too.  It's incorporated in the hotel wedding package, but I've heard really good things about Adrian Guerra http://www.stylingtriorivieramaya.com/  He does airbrushed make-up which is apparently good for the heat.  I'll have to think about that one because that would be another fee.

Here's an idea. Friend me on Facebook and look under my album named Mexico 2011. I just imported the entire lot of pics. My name is Sandy Borie. Otherwise it will take a long time to send you all pics thru email. did you send out invites already? You said you had a website up and running. I am so not technology friendly and am thinking of creating a Facebook page for our wedding. If you don't want to share the restaurant then do the terrace. It is closed off to guests. I mean people can still look thru the lobby but who cares right? They are going to be smiling away about your fabulous wedding! You will be soooooo incredibly happy that you won't care.

Great idea!  I'll do that right now.  We sent our save-the-dates out at the end of May beginning of June.  We did DIY boarding pass invites which turned out really good....it was a lot of work, but totally worth it in the end cheesy.gif

On the STD we listed our website so people would know how to book the trip.  It was one of those free sites through Wedding Wire and it was super easy!.  You literally select a background theme, then layouts for each page and you can upload pictures from your computure (just like facebook).  Here's the link to our site in case you're interested:

We're going to do formal invitations too (probably send them out in Nov/Dec this year).  The idea behind that was to get an actual rsvp for people who may have booked the trip on their own.  Hopefully they all go through our TA, but you never know.

Adrian's prices are listed online, here's the direct link: http://www.stylingtriorivieramaya.com/?page_id=626

I've pasted the info below too.  I was thinking of just make up with lashes and then get my hair done through the hotel.  That would cost $110 USD which is comparable to a regular make-up application. For example, my sister who just went to a wedding in Toronto got her make-up and lashes done at Mac and she paid $120 CAD (and the dollars are pretty well on parr right now).

Bride hair and airbrush:

$ 375 USD (Includes trial and lash application)

Bridesmaids package:

Hair Styling & Airbrush makeup:
$160 USD

Separate Services:

Hair Styling:
$85 USD

Airbrush Makeup:
$95 USD

Airbrush tan lines:

$20 USD

(please note this will reduce the appearance of your tan lines by an average of 50 percent but rarely will completely cover them, some tan lines are more prominent than others and the over use of makeup can cause running with the heat sweating combination)

False eyelash applications:

Individual lash clusters or strip:
$15 USD (for a more dramatic, eye-opening effect)

You are more than welcome to supply your own lashes & glue

Application fee: $ 5 USD

Reducing appearance of tattoos:

Depending on size and color of tattoo:
$10 USD – $25 USD

(please note: because of the intense heat and humidity our team will reduce the appearance as much as is possible. If over-sprayed the makeup will most likely begin to separate in the heat and we will not be held responsible for stained white dresses.)

Just Eyes:

$25 USD

W/lashes $40 USD

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
