Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hey Ladies

My wedding is next week already! I am going over final details with Ana, and this happen to come up (never mentioned before today!) Just wanted to see if everyone was paying the same as I will be....

She just let me know with my paradise package, the reception is only three hours long. And every hour after that is 10$ per guest/ per hour...

So I have 54 guests... so thats 540$ per hour after three hours!?  Is this right ?? and 40$ per waiter per hour!

Please let me know what you guys are paying, like I said this was not mentioned until just now!

Thanks so much for your help!!

Lindsay

I am about to book a block of rooms for my guests.  Could any of you give me any advice on which side would be better to book?  Some of my guests have said they do not want to be around kids, and I know that the Maya side is adults only.  Is the Ocean Coral side louder, more kids etc?  How much of a noticeable difference is there?

We might block some rooms on both sides, but we are having a hard time deciding since some of our close family is bringing kids.  We don't want some of our parents, grandparents to have to walk across the whole resort though.  Anyone have this same dilemma?

Thanks!

@Archily-  The resort has two sides. The Ocean Coral and the Ocean Turquesa side.  Ocean Maya Royal Resort is their sister resort; an entirely different resort (the adults only resort) is located about 10-15 minutes away by shuttle. We are staying there for our honeymoon. :-)   I would recommend the Ocean Coral side if you are looking to stay away from children.  The Ocean Coral side is quieter. It has the quieter pools and is void of children.  The Ocean Turquesa side has the Teen and Daisy club and kiddie pool is located there. I hope this helps. :-)

Three hours for the reception is from start to finish (start at 7pm and it's over at 10pm).  Be bought one extra hour ($10/guest) and then headed down to the pool bar where there was a live band (soooo awesome)!  That being said that is the ONE thing I would change - buy more time at the reception (at least a total of 2 extra hours)....just my thoughts.  Dinner was served very quickly (and was fantastic), but with speeches and 3 courses the time just flies!

@Ims26, your pricing sounds right to me.  We're doing our reception from 7pm - 12am and are paying for 2 hours extra.  I haven't heard about the $40/waiter/hour.  I think once you are past the 3 hour mark (i.e. what's included in the package) you won't really need an waiter because dinner has already been served.  The extra cost $10/person/hour is mostly for the bar.  Good luck with everything!

@ JBandDJ- Congrats!!!!!  You are an official OCT bride!!!!!  How was it!??? Tell us everything!  Did you the makeup and hair with the Spa? So many questions!!!!

Thanks for the advice on the extra hours !  My fiance and I have been going back and forth on whether or not we should do an extra hour of reception. I think my fiance and I might opt for one extra hour just because we are doing a cocktail hour before our reception.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
