ok, that's probably why then. are you speaking on email with Ana? it could be worth just asking her opinion - everyone raves on here about how good she is so I'm sure she'd have plenty of ideas, or at least be able to reassure you.

hmmm we haven't really looked at the food options yet. what are you thinking? I know there's been some reviews of the food on here and how great it is!

Hey! I haven't been on in a while but May 10 is coming fast now!! May is going to be here before we know it Katie!!

Thanks Angela for posting those pictures of the resort, it was great to see!!

Thank you SOSO much to Lin & Lia for all the posts and pictures about your weddings!

I have some questions I'm hoping one of you can answer...

Does the hotel have a steamer for your dress available?? Because Im afraid after reading some of these posts that I'm going to have to put my dress in the overhead compartment on the plane (although Im not sure how, lots of crinoline (sp?) in there!)

Also, did you have the private reception? If yes, how was the room? and was it easy to put music on?

And what did you do after (because I was told we have that room for only 3 hours or so?)

Thanks again for all your tips and information!!

Also, Katie, I inquired with Ana about a bus that would take my guests and I to Cancun for a night {to the bars!} and back to our resort that night! She said there is a company in the hotel called Traffic Tour and they rent buses for that kind of thing! I haven't inqured furthur, but I just thought if you and some of your guests were also considering this, we could see about all going the same night possibly to get a better deal on the bus rental? Just an idea :)

Only 4 months to go!!

hey Krystal, great to have you back on here :)

that sounds great - we will definitely be doing one night into Cancun before our wedding (7th May) probably on the 5th (and day and a night to recover!!) so that would be great!

what date is it that you get to the resort again and your wedding date? we arrive on the 2nd and get married on the 7th, then fly back on the 16th.

how are your plans all going?

I'm majorly panicking now xmas and NY is over!!!!!!!!

Hi Brides!

PinkBride I would suggest waiting until you're there to plan your excursion. Twice while we were there the entertainment staff planned trips to Coco Bongo and another Club for $60 per person including transporation there/back and open bar when you get there!! I thought that was a really good deal. Would recommend Coco Bongo although I didnt go my Uncle did and also a few people we met. It looked AMAZING not only a club but a Vegas show inside. They had a sort of Cirque du Soleil/Matrix show. Looked really cool. Once you're there, and if you have many people, you'll be able to barter and get a good price for all of you. wink.gif

Good luck with your planning everyone!

Wish I was there right now! shots.gif

Hey!

Katie, were not getting in until your wedding and our guests are arriving the next day (the 8th)! But thanks Lin for telling me that! It would make sense to wait and book there! I've been to Coco Bongo's, it really is amazing!! Katie, you are your guests should definitely check out Coco Bongo's! Its a great time!!! And I'm relieved to see that they take you there ad bring you home. That sounds great!!

I know, its going to be here so fast !! And we're having a full wedding reception back home 2 weeks later, so it's a lot of planning!!

What are you doing with your dress for your travels? Are you bringing it on the plane? Is it big/full bottom? Because mine is and I'm concerned about it fitting on the plane!

oh yeah, I do remember that now you've told me again! my bad memory...sorry!

I wanted to go to Coco Bongo's last time I was in Mexico but we never got round to it, and it was only me and FI! at least this time we've got a whole group of people to make it a bit more fun :) I'm not coming back to the UK having not been there this time!

we arrive back in the UK on a Monday and we're having our AHR that Saturday!! so I can totally sympathise with you. planning that is soooo stressful - more so than a DW! its like trying to plan 2 weddings...arrrgggghhh

I have absolutely no idea about how to carry my dress yet. I've been told if you're nice airlines will hang them for you...but then other times I've been told best to put it in a suitcase, or if overhead luggage but i have no idea. oh and it is a full dress (not a typical 'destination beach dress') so harder to transport it!

the dilemas!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the idea! I'm glad to hear they offer an excursion night. I am also wondering if you booked the tours you did directly with the hotel? We are wanting to take everyone to Xel-ha one day and I'm not sure if we whould book in advance online or just book it when we are there (either at the hotel or in Puerto Morales).

I'm getting soooo excited! 79 Days!

Good luck with your dresses girls! Air Transat would not let me hang mine but I didnt have to push to hard for it because my dress was fine being folded. There was lots of room in the above compartments for baggage, but I was in first class. Knowone else in the party complained of not having room and I know Brides should always get special treatment, so again Good luck!! wink.gif

We booked all our excursions, ( Catamaran, Xcaret- family also went to Xelha- Chitzinitza etc), through the Transat rep (Hugo), or through an excursion planner who worked along with the entertainment staff at the hotel. I would recommend working with the hotel staff, or Hugo, to get not only the best prices but to be safe. A family member of ours tried to book Chitzinitza (I'll never learn to spell that right! LOL!), through an outside source and she got ripped off and ended up paying money for nothing at all. Very sad. The hotel staff is also very friendly and accomodating. They want to make it work for you!! :)

Good luck once again, you have all chosen a BEAUTIFUL place!!

Much love, Lin -a happy Newlywed!

Hi ladies!

I agree with Lin, best to book once you get there, esp if the weather changes once you get there. We also worked with Hugo (Transat) and he was great. They also have other tour companies at the lobby and Hugo matched their prices for us (since half of our group did not book with Transat).

We did the Isla Mujeres Catamaran ride, it was great! Isla Mujeres is gorgeous and we found the markets there actually cheaper than Playa or Cancun for souvenirs, just a tip wink.gif Snorkeling was part of the tour but the water was really choppy so I kinda got panicky in the water lol.

We also did Tulum/Xelha, amazing! One day is not enough for Xelha, so much to do!

One more tip, make sure to order tamarind margaritas at Ocean Turquesa! Best margarita ever!

PinkBride, sorry can't help you about the private reception, we had a semi private one at Villa Marina, and then dancing at the lobby terrace, which worked out well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
