How cool! I've found a bride sister (nearly!) :o) congrats to you too.

You'll be arriving on my wedding day! How long are you staying at the resort for? we're there from the 2nd - 16th.

Yeah Ana takes a few days...I'll feel less anxious when we actually have some wedding stuff sorted! Which package did you go with in the end?

And defo...I'll let you know if/when I find anything out!!

Hey Katie!
We are arriving on May 7th - May 15th and then we are staying at the Excellence Adult Only Resort May 15th-May18th! Most of our guests are staying May 8th- May 15th!

We are still deciding, but I think we are going with the Coral Package with the private dinner. What about you?

And a little advice, which I originally got from this thread....Don't be afraid to ask for discounts and negotiate.
After a few emails back and forth saying we are looking to save money and spend less..She offered the Caribbean Package at 15% off...and is now offering the Coral Package for less than quoted. So don't be afraid to negotiate! Its worth the discount! :)

Hope that helps!

Good Morning Fellow Brides to Be,

I just want togive everyone a 'heads up' about the Transat packages, although we chose one and think it is a great deal...I am finding they include very little which is allowing the hotel to make even more money off of you. For example we have to pay another $450 US for a minister to perform our symbolic ceremony, the decoration included in the package is white chair covers for the ceremony and 4 tiki torches...that's it!!

My travel agent has complained and is trying to negotiate some more details for the packages and it sounds like Transat is having this difficulty with many of the hotels involved. We are finding Ana helpful, but we already have added over $800 US of 'extras' that I feel should be included when we've paid that much for our wedding package.

Lastly, the hotel/Ana have not completed putting together the details of each package so they have no clue what flowers are included in the Transat pakgs for bouquets, etc.

I strongly suggest if booking one of these packages, make some decisions about what you want and negotiate before you get there.

Hope this helps!

Yes, we are getting married on December 9th, 2009 and we are going through Transat and same thing, their packages don't come with a lot - so you pay quite a bit more for a complete wedding. We are going with the Shooting Star - I think it's the best bang for our buck and the beach setup and outdoor reception setup are included and are breathtaking!

Good advice for the wheeling and dealing - I will definitely see what happens.

Hi ladies thanks for the input re: Transat packages... I had to negotiate with Ana for most of the "add-ons", and so I ended up getting more with the Transat Bliss package (even with the additional items) and it's still costing me less than the Coral package - what we were originally getting. And I agree, Ana is pretty open to negotiation with the prices so don't be afraid to do so :)

Thanks so much for this info! We are just about to book the Shooting Stars package so it's really useful to know that we should try to negotiate. Hopefully we'll be able to save a bit of money which will make me soooooo happy :)

I'll keep you updated!

Hey Krystal!

Wow, your wedding and honeymoon sound amazing!

We're probably going to go with the Shooting Stars package as it caters for the number of guests we have and all the extras included are things we want.

Thanks for the advice - I REALLY hope we can get money off of the package too. What kind of things did you say that resulted in her putting the prices down? (any tips would be sooo appreciated - we're totally over budget and so any money saved is a god send).

Thanks!

Hey Katie!
Your wedding and honeymoon sound just as amazing!! :) We are lucky brides...we get to celebrate our wedding all week long!

Well I started off saying I wanted the Coral, but it's out of our price range...so she offered 15 % off of the Carribean package. I asked her what she could take off of the package price of Coral if we excluded things such as: (examples)

-Romantic dinner in the a la cart restaurant for the couple
-1 bottle of domestic champagne and a basket of fruit deliver to the coupleâ€s room
-Room decoration with flowers
-Makeup and Hair for the bride (My hairdresser is coming to do mine, and I'm a makeup artist wink.gif )

Ana responded back to me saying that some of those things don't actually cost anything, but because I do not have a lot of money for the wedding she knocked $150 off the package...$1900 to $1750.
$150 is $150 right? :)
I would just start your email about how over budget you 2 are and how anything would help. She seems nice and willing to work with you.

I hope that helps and I hope you save some money!! Goodluck!

-Krystal

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
