Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi Girls - I just got a price quote from Ana for the "extras" that we are having for the wedding. I asked about setting up an ipod for the reception and she quoted me a $185 charge for the "set-up"? We are bringing the ipod, does anyone know if this is for the speakers or what? Anybody get a different quote?

Thanks - Brooke

Hi Brooke,

I think what she means by set up is actually setting up tables and chairs for your group and probably as well as the speakers, she gave me a quote of $15 per person for set up (for approx. 25 people) if we have our after dinner party in the lobby terrace. And she quoted us $10 per person/hour for an open bar, but hopefully we can just go to the lobby to get our drinks and not have to pay for "open bar."

What is everyone doing for hair and make up? I am planning to use the salon at the spa

bcbride - In the charges that Ana added to the invoice include a $185 charge for "speaker set-up" for both the ceremony and reception on the lobby terrace. And she added a $100 set up charge to set tables up for the reception. I think I am going to email her back and try to figure our why so much. Don't you think?

I agree about "open bar",we are also just going to have everyone get drinks from the bar since it is so close.

My haridresser/friend is coming to the wedding so she is doing my hair and make-up.

Hi Brooke, yeah $185 charge does seem too much for speaker set up, esp. when you can just bring your own ipod dock/speakers, let me know what Ana says! Lucky you have your own friend doing make up and hair :) I will just hope for the best that they do a decent job at the salon there!

carinagirl, if you go through this thread (i know it may take a while) you'll find some pictures posted and links to diff. albums of the resort... Here's a link to one i made with the pics my TA took when she did a site visit a few months ago: Pictures by bcbride_2009 - Photobucket

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum - wedding booked for January 26th, 2010 at the Ocean Turquesa. There is a lot of great information on here - thanks for sharing, everyone!

I'm trying to decide on a colour scheme (choosing between medium blue, or a "bright" theme like dark pink, yellow & orange all together). I would love to see pics from anyone who used those colours, so I can see what it all looks like within the setting of the resort. It's so hard to envision without having been there!

Also, did anyone have a large (40+ people) reception on the lobby terrace & if so, would it be possible to send me a picture of that?

And, did anyone organize a Welcome Dinner or a Day-After Brunch? Any advice?

One last question .... did anyone try to negotiate the price on the wedding packages prior to arriving?

Thanks!

Clarissa

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
