Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi, Map great pictures!!

My TA told me to hold off until June to see what happens with Mexico, i guess to see if we should move our wedding to another location. I know this girl who moved her (it was a May wedding for this year) to Costa Rica. Now I'm wondering should I just do that now. Poor Mexico is getting such a bad reputation.

Not sure what to do but i'm more nervous because I was hoping to send my saved the dates but I was giong to put "destination wedding, hotel name or at least cancun Mexico" but now i can't send saved the dates I dont even know if i have a location.. headache

Hey Ladies...I haven't been on here in a while!! My e-mail alerts stopped for some reason..?? been busy getting settled in here with my new hubby.

Map..congrats!! I am glad things went well for you! You did get out just in time it seems..the swine flu thing is crazy! I hope it gets under control soon. I guess everyone should hold off on booking to see what happens. I think even if they say things are OK..people will still be nervous to book a trip there for a while..keep that in mind for your guests. Just my opinion..

Someone asked a few posts ago how much the day pass is...it's 70.00 for outside guests.

Alrighty, that's all I have for now.. Shelley

Map,

Thanks so much for the pics, they are great! What time did you get married? Also, how much extra per person was it to have the dinner at Villa Marina? Ana sent a list of some of the prices to my TA, but did you find that she negotiated with you some on their prices?

Thanks!

Ashley

We got married at 3:30pm, my hair appt was at 12pm (would not have wanted to do it any later!), got room service for lunch (took about 40mins to get there, but soooo worth it), and I was about 25mins late (I think our ceremony actually started closer to 4pm). Pictures lasted about 1 hr or so. Then we hung out in the lobby with cocktails until it was dinner time (6:30pm).

I can't remember what the listed price is for dinner at the Villa Marina...we negotiated wink.gif I didn't get it as low as another bride on here, but we had a smaller group then them too. It's worth it to ask what her best price is!

Thanks! I was trying to decide on a ceremony time. I am thinking around 5pm, so that maybe some of our pictures will be taken close to sunset? Not sure how that will work out though. From what I understand the sun sets around 7:15 there in May. I'm glad to hear you got an hour for pictures....I wasn't sure what to expect using the resort's photographer. It is just so hard to make all these decisions when I don't know how long everything takes there. Thanks so much for your help!

  • 2 weeks later...

When I was inquiring about that for our wedding we were initially told that they do not allow external photographers unless they are staying with you at the hotel (like with your party).

Anyway, obviously that's not the case...so we inquired about it a bit more, and for the life of me I can't find the email that we got with the price...I think she told us about $200 US, and we couldn't get the price down.

But Shelley I believe paid $70 US for a day pass (she mentioned it in one of the previous msgs).

I would email Ana and ask.

Hi Shorty,

Ana gave me a quote of $400 at first for an external photographer but she eventually came down to $200, I just said one of the brides was quoted $200 (but I made sure not to mention any names!). The day pass of $70 is on top of the external vendor fee! So we decided to fly our own photographer instead, that way we have more flexibility with our shoot times and locations. Hope this helps!

Hey girls,

I had an external photogragher and her assistant come in. At first I was told that it would be 200.00 plus 70.00 each for the day pass. Total 340.00. ouch!! I told her we couldn't afford that so she reduced it to 120.00 for the external fee and 60.00 each for the day passes. New Total of 260.00. I was happy with that. Just tell her what you are willing to pay and I find that she does work with what you can afford on ALL things. Also make sure you keep your e-mails with pricing details with you when you go to the resort in case of any mistakes. I had a minor price mistake and showed her the e-mail and she changed it right away.

Take care, Shelley

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
