Hello Ocean Coral and Turquesa wedding planners! Congratulations to you all, a lovely choice of venue for a destination wedding. The resort has a "homey" feel to it, we love the colorful architecture set amidst the palm trees and rustic palapas. Great place for a beach ceremony and a terrace reception.

To previous OCT Brides: how long did you have between your ceremony & reception?  Our ceremony is at 4 and im thinking we should have the reception at 7:00 to allow time for the champagne toast, photos, and then have 7-10 reception with 10-10:30 free to freshen up for the pool party.. any thoughts or feedback?

Thanks!

Hi!

I am extremely disappointed and frustrated right now.  My fiancé and I recently decided to cancel our home wedding and book a destination wedding.  We heard wonderful things from our friends who frequently use their timeshare there.  I was so excited to talk to someone about different options and book our wedding!  However, NO ONE WILL TALK TO US! I have written numerous emails, filled out two injuries on their websites and called their hotel.  The hotel says they do not deal with weddings and the only way to reach the coordinator is through long distance calling or email.  I am so frustrated we would be giving them at least 50 guests and they do not return emails?  Has anyone else had this problem?

Perhaps one of you can help?  The questions I want to ask them are:

1. Are there any blackout dates?

2.  What are the seasonal prices?

3. Is there a minimum amount of days my guest would have to stay?

4.  Is there a minimum amount of days the bride and groom must stay?

5.  How do you find vendors (florists, photographers, dj?)

6.  What are the locations for ceremony? reception?

7.  Is there a fixed menu? Can we pick our menu?

Any information you can give would really help!  I know nothing about destination weddings! I would love to get married here based on the great reviews and my friend's experience but this lack of communication is so frustrating! Thanks again!

Hi everyone!

We have just booked our wedding for the OCT for August 2016 from the UK. Looking forward to reading everybody's tips as I'm a bit of a worrier! We have booked the romantic package although we will probably only have 15-20 guests. Still very early stages so don't really know anything about the packages other than a very basic outline.mhas anybody had the romantic package and asked to upgrade the reception meal to an outside venue? Also lots of people seem to have married on the terrace not the beach...is there any particular reason for this? Basically I want to know everything and anything please! Looking forward to sharing our wedding journeys together. Kirstie :-)

hey ladies...we just returned last week from or wedding april 14th... id luv to pay it forward and answer any questions as I had some help with mine!  our wedding turned out great for the most part..great weather, beautiful resort.I was disappointed in the beach which I kind of was expecting but hopeful it would surprise me haha, they do a lot of weddings here and I felt like just a number the next day when I went to the wedding office to get my stuff, they hardly even made eye contact with me and didn't really care about finding my stuff either, oh well, the communication the whole time was horrible (which I think is very common for us brides)...when we got there it was better. my wc maria seemed to understand everything I wanted (I sent multiple emails to confirm little details and also printed it out for her to give her when I got there)....she did drop the ball with a few minor things...but things that mattered to me...ex. seaweed on the beach, fuschia bows on the gazebo, she lost some of my wedding stuff that I wanted to take home, the bride and groom entrance song was wrong.. which was the technicians fault too I guess, she didn't communicate well about times etc, which in turn made us late about 30 minutes and ended with a kind of rushed photo session...  anyways...im here to answer any questions if  have any.....we upgraded the sunset pkg to the lobby terrace (since we were only doing a symbolic ceremony and the next pkg higher includes a legal ceremony which is way more expensive...we had 23 adults and 3 kids so they just charged accordingly to the 20 adults that was included in the sunset pkg...so I guess it depends on what type of ceremony ur doing and how many people u want. but im glad I did it that way, saved some cash too...

hey ladies...

hi not sure if my post went thru...

Do you mean the Ocean Coral & Turquesa at Puerto Morelos?  <Sorry - new to this thread and not entirely sure I'm at the right place....>

It IS very difficult to get in touch with them.  It usually takes more than a week for an email reply, and the wedding coordinators are constantly quitting (they've gone through 4 since I started this journey in November).

I have no idea about blackout dates, but we booked through a travel agent (Liz Moore Destination Weddings, agent Keeley Dahl), and she was able to get all 35 of us in for a week at the end of June for $165/room/night.  2 people/room ($85/person/night), all inclusive.  June is low season, I believe.

Not too sure about the resort's minimums, but our travel agent required a 10 room minimum, each for at least 4 days in order to get the group rate.  OCT is now near-sold out for June, I believe, so booking through an agent was probably the right choice for us.

OCT has its own florists/DJs/photographers whom they have some sort of relationship with.  If you want to use vendors OTHER than the ones they provide, there is a fee.  Not sure how much exactly, but I think it's quite a lot.

For locations, I understand they've got beach, lobby terrace, and rooftop terrace available for the ceremony and/or reception.

They have a menu with several options you can choose from (everyone will be served the same things, so you much choose for all your guests).

Does anyone know if there is a way to upload files to this?  OCT sent me a range of materials that I can post here in case it helps anyone.  I'll see if I can figure it out.

OK, I can't at all see how to add content to "My Library".  Anyone know how to do this?

OCT sent me the 2015 packages info and pricing; the menu; the flowers catalogue; the photos catalogue; and the cake catalogue.  Happy to post them if I can figure out how

Anyway, hi, I'm Danielle.  My H2B and I are getting married at OCT in Puerto Morelos, Mexico on June 26th this year.  We're doing the Paradise Package.  Naturally I'm terrified.  The WC is super difficult to get in touch with and it seems every month or two there is a new person doing the job.  Huge leap of faith at this point.  Hope all goes well.

I believe the wedding coordinator (for now) is Cecilia, but I've also heard of a Claudia.  #freakingout

Good luck, brides!  Good luck to all of us  :P

Has anyone tried to release sky lanterns at OCT?

I know it was previously not allowed, but it's become more popular in Cancun in the last few years, and I wonder if anyone's tried it recently.  I really really really want to give these to our guests to release!

Still can't figure out how to attach anything...

I ended up doing a sparkler send off at the end of the reception...found a place after months of research that was cheaper than the resort and they delivered them right to me in the lobby. not sure about sky lanterns I didn't see them once while I was there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
