So I just heard back from Pamela, she said she checked with her manager and will not honor the 2013 rates for me... guess the whole "catch more bees with honey" thing didn't work out.

It's not over yet!  I've asked Pamela to get me in touch with Ana so we can straighten this whole thing out.  I checked my email history, and I booked my wedding on April 30, 2013!!  This should be far enough away that I can pay the old rates.

How did you get them to honor the rates for you?

That is completely ridiculous!! I can't believe they won't honor the prices!!  You did the right thing to ask to speak with Ana since she is the manager.  I also booked my wedding in April 2013 (sent the wedding contract form along with the deposit) and my wedding is occurring in April 2014.  Cynthia had clearly stated in emails along with attachments she sent that all prices she was quoting were for 2014.  So that's why I put up a fight recently when they tried to tell me that prices had gone up and I would have to pay for them.  Its just completely crazy and creates stress that is really not necessary!!

To respond to your question, as mentionned in earlier messages, I simply wrote a very nasty email to Pamela in response to the increase of prices with alot of words in capital letters.  I completed my email saying that if she and I couldnt resolve the matter, that I would ask to speak to her manager.  Then...I received an email from Ana saying that I would be dealing with her from now on, apologizing for Pamela's email and saying that she would honor the prices I was quoted by Cynthia.

To be completely honest, at this point in time, I do not trust any of them!! I sent Ana a list of questions last weekend after receiving her email and have not had a response yet AND I forwarded my email again mid-week.  I certainly don't want to deal with any drama once Im there so I would rather do it now via email since its a paper trail and not verbal.

Keep me posted and good luck!!

Leslie :)

We have heard back from the resort and they are working with us to find a location outside for our wedding reception.  Both Terraces are booked with 2 other weddings (we thought they only produced 1 wedding per day?)  Hopefully all will be resolved soon.

Does anyone have photo's of a wedding reception in the "Garden Area"?

We are concerned that we are now competing with the other 2 weddings for services.  Any thoughts out there?

I am going to play Devil's Advocate right now (don't slap me! lol ) If your weddings are in 2014, even if you booked in 2013, you pay the 2014 rates.  That's pretty standard practice.  However, she should have given you these rates when you  booked, and explained you would be paying 2014 prices and not 2013. I booked early in 2013, but from day one, was aware I would be paying 2014 rates, as that's the year of the wedding. Maybe there was a misunderstanding somewhere in your corresponence? I wouldn't get worked up or worry too much. The reason you will not receive a responce quickly is because, 1) they simply don't check their email as frequently as you or I might, and 2) since there are numerous weddings happening at all times, they have to prioritize based on whos wedding is approaching first.  I have heard many, many brides say that as it gets closer to your date, they really focus in on you; furthermore, when you arrive- it's ALL about you. Try not to stress and know that it will all be ok!! Hope everything works out for you girls. :D

@@Leslied Just wanted to let you know I've sorted everything out with Ana!  Although she didn't honor last years' prices (for reasons I understand), we did reach an agreement and met in the middle.  I'm happy with how it worked out :)

@@Jenna...very happy for you and getting everything sorted out!! I'm sure you must feel relieved!!  I have yet to hear from Ana and it's been 2 weeks.  I sent her a list of questions. Did you speak to her by email or phone?  Did she send you a new contract outlining all of the costs?  Let me know :)

@@Leslied ... I emailed Ana, and she responded within 3 days (as per usual).  I don't have a new contract, but she did send me a proposal in the email which outlines the costs for everything in my wedding package very clearly.  I'll probably get an official contract when my wedding date gets closer.

QUESTION FOR ALL OCT BRIDES:

With the 3-course menu items - do we have to select one full menu, or can we mix and match items from the different menus.

For example: I really like every course in one of the set menus EXCEPT for the beef wellington.  I want to switch the main course with the surf and turf from another menu.  Am I allowed to do that?  I've emailed Pamela about this but I can probably get a quicker response here.

HI Ladies! We are getting married at the OCT this month and I am geting concerned b/c I keep seeing posts about there being no nightlife there.  We had planned to have the reception from 7 - 11 then go to the disco for the rest of the night... but apparently ther is no disco! I was told that the pool bar turns into a disco but now I am reading that it's only on certain nights.  Does anyone have any info on this?  Should I extend the reception? Thanks!

Ashleen, I'm sure you are probably already well on your way to Mexico for your wedding (congrats!) but in any case... I had a friend get married here, and she said that after the reception, the pool bar/club was open. I guess there is also a 50's themed diner that is open until 4 am. They went there and took some fun wedding pics after the reception and dancing by the pool. I think you will be fine ending your reception when you do. As far as i can tell, there are plenty of fun things to do afterwards! Have fun!!!

Would you mind passing on the menu information? I've been waiting to hear back from Ana about the food -- so far we've just been discussing some gluten-free/veggie options.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
