Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hi Ladies, This has been so helpful in so many ways. We are getting married in April this year, we went last year to have a look at the resort and meet with Ana, everything was really great. Ana was so good with replying till about September and now its impossible to get a reply. Im very relief with the replies here knowing she is there for you when you get there i guess bottom line thats what counts.

Hi Josie Fiorda,

I am thinking about getting a wedding planner to help me deal with OCT.  My wedding is in May 2013, and I am having an extremely difficult time communicating with both Angelica and Ana.  These ladies take forever to answer an emial (if they even bother), and when they do, they onoy address half of the questions.  Do you mind my asking how much it cost you to hire Sun Lovers destination wedding planners?  It may be worth the cost if it reduces a lot of the stress!

Thanks for any advice or info you may have!

Hello Cupcake,

I saw your post concerning the rental of a donkey, and thought I would write to you.  I would like to have a donkey appear at my Mexican Fiesta-Themed Wedding, also.  Did you/are you using a donkey, too?  Does Ocean Coal & Turquesa allow them? I was told no, but my fiance really has his heart set on it, especially since our theme is a typical Mexican fiesta.

Thanks for any info~

Dear FutureMrsMT:

I was wondering the same thing.  My wedding is in May 2013, but I put down a deposit around June of 2012.  If you paid a deposit in 2012, does that mean the 2012 prices are "locked in" for your wedding, even if your wedding is in 2013?

I never received (or have seen) a new price list for 2013.  It should be out by now, my goodness, it is late January already.  Has anyone seen a new 2013 price list?

Hi ladies and gents. I am leaving OCT today after spending 2 weeks here. We were married on the becah January 10th 2013 and were supposed to have our reception on the terrace but were moved in doors due to weather. It was sunny and beautiful for our beach ceremony and rained one hour after the ceremony. The reception in doors was beautiful none the less. I worked with Ana for my wedding and can not say enough nice things about her. Everything was perfect! I to was anxious and upset in the time leading up to my wedding about the lack of communication via emails but the lines of communication open up much better when you get closer to your day. Keep in mind this resort does usually 2 weddings a day and there was a day where there were 3 weddings while we were here. The wedding planners are very busy hence why why your wedding is far away the communication is not so great as they must focus on the wedding s that are much closer. That being said I completely understand how frustrating it is as a bride. But rest assured they will become more available as your day approaches, well I can't speak for Angelique as I had very little dealing with her. The wind changes based on the season, but based on the resorts location it is usually windy here so be warned if you are wanting a reception on the beach. The lobby terrace is lovely and offers a beautiful view of the beach with a little less wind. I will try to post a picture of the view from the terrace where they hold receptions. You will have a meeting with the wedding planner the day after you arrive in which you will sign papers have a tour of the site options for ceremony reception etc and can finalize your flower choices. Ana went over all the choices I had sent her via email, which had only happened a month or so prior to arrival and made sure she had everything right. Also my destination wedding specialist in Canada had warned me that they don't check there emails daily in Mexico and although in Canada we start our planning a year ahead of time the cultural difference here is vast and the wedding planners do not feel a sense of urgency untill your wedding day is much closer. My wedding hair and makeup turned out fabulous, it was done at the spa by Vicky I brought pictures of what I wanted and it turned out just as I had imagined! The DJ I booked through resort was good, all he did was play the music I had selected, which i was happy with, but if your looking for someone to get the crowed going, interact with guests etc... You might want to have an MC to do that if you go with the resort DJ. Anyhow after all my worry and stress regarding the lack of communication leading up to the wedding everything turned it perfect! I hope this can be some reassurance to you. If you have any questions fire away, I will post a detailed review once back in Canada, leaving tonight, and after 2 weeks here I am still sad to go! It has been absolutely fantastic! Happy planning girls and guys!

Danitree - thank you so much for the fabulous review and reassurance in Ana's great work once you arrived at the resort! I leave in seven days and not hearing back from Ana in 6 weeks had me nervous, but I feel much better knowing how wonderful everything worked out for you.

Congratulations to you and your new husband!!

Hi Danitree, Congratulations on your big day!  I am anxious to see some more photos and hear your review.

I am getting married here in April and trying to decide if we should hire the resort DJ or not.  You suggested that the DJ was not all that interactive.  Was this DJ hired in addition to your package, or was this just a person they included to set up the music?  We are just trying to figure out if it is worth hiring the DJ if we bring our own music anyway.

Thanks for you help!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
