Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Hello ladies!

Has anyone contemplated between the OCT packages and the Transat packages?  I have heard mixed reviews.  Looking for something simple for 50 guests.  Just the a la carte dinner and symbolic beach ceremony.  I know Transat is cheaper but I hear they don't provide the minister and only have basic set up?  Can anyone verify?  Thanks!!

We got married on December 6th, 2012 at OCT and had 75 guests.  We had very little contact with our wedding coordinator prior to arrival (Paula).  They are very busy with other weddings.  We met with Paula for 3 hours the day after we arrived at the resort.  We set up everything at this time.  She did everything to what we wanted.  The day was flawless.  We did not even have a DJ that we paid for and they provided one anyways.  We had some of our own decor and center pieces and they were put out for us.  The cake options they have at the resort are far more then what you get sent on the order form.  Everything you have put on your order form will change once you arrive as alot more options seem to become available.  Dont stress about not speaking to the wedding coordinator, the wedding will be great as the coordinators do an incredible job.

Thanks for confirming! And some friends that are attending my wedding have been stalking trip advisor... they say they serve Corona. Woohoo!

Thanks for the reassurance. I'm glad to hear Ana gives so much time to the bride/grooms once they arrive at the resort.  Truth be told, having her available during the wedding week to plan that is far more important.

In my email from Ana about lanterns, she said they had come from a vendor (she is going to quote me a price, but I haven't heard back yet.. that was 4 weeks ago). She said we'd also have to rent the poles and the lanterns would not be lit.  However, if you feel like getting crafty, I read that some people tie battery operated tea lights with fishing wire to the middle of the lantern so they light up.

I bought led wired lighting (battery operated) from Efavormart: http://www.efavormart.com/whimsical-fairy-lights-white.aspx for my decor. They actually look really great and you can barely see the wire.. I was going to use these with tulle to decorate the head table and maybe some of the posts around the lobby terrace, just for a soft and romantic feel.  Maybe something like this could work inside the lantern?

Has any one else heard any feedback on the resort DJ? We have him booked for three hours through Ana ($550 for 3 hours, and $150 per additional hour - fyi)  I read on this forum that his name is DJ Canjo and his email is [email protected]... so I sent an email to him and Ana with a list of about 25 songs that I'd like to suggest for the party.

Any feedback on the dj or suggestions?

Hi ladies, I got married at OCT in November 2012. I can answer some questions but not all. I know that they will put your decorations out for you.

Yes you will have an appointment with Ana or whoever your coordinator is probably the day after you arrive. They go through everything in detail with you and they are very patient. Just make sure you know exactly what you want and that they get your prices right. I had Angelica and she tried to give us different numbers than she had already quoted us. Thankfully I had all my emails as back up!

On the actual wedding day they are great. They are there for the whole thing. I saw them constantly checking to make sure everything was running smoothly. This put my mind at ease a great deal. While the communication before really sucks, rest assured that your day will be wonderful. They really do a great job when it comes down to the actual day!

Happy planning ladies! Try not to stress to much!

Hello, leahbecker:

I was wondering the exact same thing, since I must hire a DJ as well as a photographer.  I know OCT has their won, and charge a hefty fee if you bring in someone else, so I would like to keep costs down by using the vendors from OCT.  Have any brides used them for their weddings?  Has anyone heard anything positive or negative about OCT's DJ and photographer?

I would like to keep costs down, but I don't want someone who is lousy.  If i know that ahead of time, I will gladly spend the extra money for an outside DJ and photographer.

Thanks for any help ~

Amanda

Hi leahbecker:

I was wondering the same thing.  I would like to use OCT's DJ and photographer to keep costs

down, but don't know whether they are any good or not.  Anyone have an opinion, or used them before?  I can't seem to find any reviews or info on them, especially the photographer -- he seems to be a ghost, lol.  Thanks to anyone who can provide information!

Hi Josie,

Thanks for the info.  It is always so reassuring to hear from someone who has already "been there, done that!"   I am looking for a reasonably priced DJ and photographer.  Did you use the DJ and Photographer from OCT?  If so, how good were they?  If not, who did you end up using?  I know it is expensive to bring in an outside vendor, and I would like to keep costs down if possible.

Thanks for any info! I will probably have many more questions for you in the future if you don't mind sharing your experiences at OCT.  Most brides do not post AFTER their wedding.  You would be a great resource, and your opinions greatly valued!

We chose not to hire a DJ for the reception, and instead we will use the resort's speakers and our own ipod playlist. Our guests total about 26 people, so it seemed a bit much to have a DJ. And we couldn't justify the extra cost.

We are bringing a photographer from home, so I can't speak to that.

I have heard that off-resort photographers seem to be a bit better than the resort photographer (photopro I think?), but I never dealt with them myself so not sure.  I have Gonzalo Nunez booked for a photographer and he has been professional and excellent to work with so far. I think his portfolio is fantastic and his prices are very good when I was shopping around. The resort will charge $300 for an outside vendor plus $80 per person day pass for outside photographers - i think it was worth it to hire off-resort for photography.

Ana should be able to put you in touch with the resort photographer/videographer if you'd like more information

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
