Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Hey Girls!

I need some advice of a Civil Ceremony/ Symbolic.

The CC requires your blood work be done in MX, arrive 3-4 days before and have 4 witnesses.

* Has anyone had one of these?  Can you explain exactly how it works?  How do I get a marriage cert. back in the US?

If I choose a symbolic ceremony, how does this work?  Would I have to be "married" in the US first?

Thanks!!!

The civil ceremony is the "legal" ceremony, which makes the marriage legal in Mexico AND USA.  The civil ceremony will be done in spanish by a judge (justice of peace) and then translated in English. Mexican laws require a Health Certificate for all Legal Wedding Ceremonies. Blood tests are done to determine blood type, HIV and STD status. Tests must be taken at the resort and results are ready within 24 hours. Approximate cost is $250 USD per couple (unless stated as an inclusion in your wedding package). Bride and Groom must arrive at their hotel three business days prior to the legal wedding ceremony date in order to complete the blood tests and process the necessary documents. Saturday and Sunday are not considered working days.  When you get home you have to register your marriage certificate at your local City Hall.  You must have the  Apostille Seal in order for it to be legal in the USA, this is usually an additional cost which is included with the "civil ceremony" package at OCT.

The symbolic ceremony is not legal, and you can get married before or after the wedding.  My suggestion is that you get married legally afterwards but if you decide to get married before do not tell ANYONE.  I spoke with a couple that did that and their guests were upset and didn't feel like spending so much to travel to their destination to see them get married when they were already legally married.  Their guests told them that it didn't feel as special.  Just a heads up :-)

I am having a rehearsal dinner in Puerto Morelos. There are a couple of decent restaurants (not great) and not too expensive. I feel that this way we are getting out of the resort and enjoy some time just with close family and wedding party.

Any group reservation in one of the a-la carte restarnats at OCT has an extra charge ( I think about $25/person). I believe you can do the buffet restaurant at no charge.

Happy Planning!

Hey!  I am getting married April 26, 2012 at OCT.  I haven't had the chance to get in touch with the coodinator there, my travel agent just booked us to stay 7 nights in the Privileged Jr. Suite.  Since we booked 7 nights in this suite, we are qualified for the "Free" wedding, which so far, has come out to be cheaper than booking 5 nights and paying $1250 for the wedding package.

PLEASE send me all the info. you have!!  I haven't done anything but book our flight and hotel.  I am running wayyyy behind.  But, it's only going to be us 2 and a close couple of friends.  We are having a symbolic ceremony.  Please send me any helpful hints.

I am also hiring an outside photographer, someone local to the area...Dean Sanderson.  Any way around the outside vendor fee???  Can he just stay for 1 night and be considered a guest?

My email address is:  aallen6975@yahoo.com

Thanks!!!

Can you send me your OCT info.  My wedding is April 26th!  We are arriving on April 22nd and leaving April 28.  Looks like you will be there at the same time as us!!  :)  Please help me with any info you have.  I just booked OCT yesterday and completed my flight. I haven't accomplished anything other than that!  Running out of time.  I'm also hiring an outside photographer.  Any new news on vendor fees?  If I book him for the night to stay, then is he considered a guest?

Anyway, any info will help me at this point.  I haven't been able to contact the wedding coordinator yet.  What is her email address?

Thanks!!  :)

My Fiance and I are getting married at OCT on April 20, 2012 and have been working with Ana to plan.  We have over 70 people coming which is crazy!!  Ana has been great but takes a little while to get back to us.   She has emailed me pictures of flowers, along with her florists website, and pictures of cocktail hour/ceremony and reception set up.  If anyone wants any of this stuff let me know and I'll be happy to share!

We are booking an outside photographer and I was wondering what everyone else is being charged for this?

From what I read you do NOT want to go with their photographer.  Let me know what you guys are being charged for this, I think its crazy to be charged extra for something that they are NOT providing a service for.

Also we are having cocktail hour on the beach with appetizers and alcohol along with a mariachi band.  Anyone else doing a cocktail hour?  I would love to compare prices.

My parents went to visit OCT and sat down with Ana, they said she was very nice and accomadating and that the resort was beautiful (they took a lot of pictures if you guys would like to see).

Hey!  My TA was recently down there and she said the murals were only at one of the rooftop locations (the one with the 2 yellow mini covered areas).  Apparently it's near the Teen Club area so I think it's part of it.  The Lobby Terrace (see below) doesn't have any paintings so that might be a better option for you if you were thinking rooftop.

Thanks!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
