Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

Yikes! I've booked November 21, 2012 at OCT, and heard nothing of this.  They took our money, and we have several guests attending.  We are using the Lobby Terrace though, so not sure if the beach might be an issue?

Both my wedding planner and myself have tried contacting the resort and they have yet to get back to us any info would be great and very appreciated.

I haven't heard of this either.  I'm also getting married on the lobby terrace, however from the resort pictures it looks like the beach wedding area is a permanent set up.  The resort probably does something to ensure the preservation of the turtle eggs, but I don't think they would jeopardize an already booked wedding.  Years ago when I was in Clearwater, Florida there were turtle eggs on the beach so the resort just put a fence around that area to prevent anyone from disturbing them.  It was only a small area and most definetely not the entire beach.

Hi Everyone,

I last e-mailed Ana December 18th- Still have not heard from her.  I know many of you mentioned she takes a while getting back through e-mail.  Should I be worried?

Can anyone help me with my questions?

1.  Are there discounted prices for children?  We have children coming from 15 years old to 2 years old.    2. Where are the locations we can get married?  I saw pictures of the beach, the terrace and the rooftop terrace.    3. What are our options for having a sit-down dinner after the ceremony?   4. When is the best time to get married?  We were thinking around 3 PM.     Thanks! <3 K

Anyone having a wedding during the week of 14-21 of April that is bringing there own photographer as a guest? I am looking to have a outside photographer since the onsite one is horrible and i have seen earlier in the thread about brides sharing a photographer. i would love any info on sharing and trying to save on some costs since the resort charges so much for a outside vendor fee and i would love someone who speaks english.

thanks ladies

Hi Tegan!

I'm a newbie to this forum and also looking at OCT for Jan/Feb 2013.  Have you had any luck emailing with Ana and getting more information?  I've emailed her a few times and have yet to hear anything.. its so frustrating!  :(  My fiance and I are looking at around 100-120 people and we're trying to figure out how the cost is going to break down.  Seems like we're both in the same boat!  Have you decided on a date yet?

Hope everyones planning is going well! i am in the beginning stages of our planning and i am unsure of what wedding package to go with. so my question to all of you is did you go with the OCT packages or did you go with the packages that the company you booked with is offering? or did you not go with a package and just tell ana what you want and are going with those prices? i am unsure what to do cause there are things in each package i like but its also missing a lot of things i want for our big day. We do have a large group coming and i noticed that the most expensive wedding package that the OCT offers is $3500 and up to 40 ppl. Not that i being cheap but i would like to find the best deal for us and since there are still many things i would add to the $3500 package so im wondering which way would be the best way to go since we are looking at around 100 or more ppl coming. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Fellow OTC Brides!

I am hoping that some of you can share your experience with me about "paying off" the hotel's photographer and bringing in your own? My wedding date is 2/22/2013, we've paid our deposit and Ana has confirmed the date for us. I have found a local photographer in the area that did my girlfriend's wedding last winter in Playa Del Carmen. How do you approach this with Ana? What  is the best method for taking her down on the price? I feel like we should not have to pay alot since the wedding package we are going with is for a legal wedding ceromony and we are just going to do a symbolic one as we are getting married at homebefore we go. Do you just email her and offer a couple hundred dollars or what? I have read through the forum and it seems like everyone is charged a different price. Also does anyone know what the "daypass" charge is for the photographer to come on site for the day?  Any thoughts/feedback would be appriciated!!!!

Thanks :)

Hey Kleenotes!  Welcome to the group!  It's wedding season right now so I'm assuming Ana is super busy.  Don't worry though she's amazing.  I would suggest sending her a reminder email(?).  Have you booked your actual wedding date or are you still looking around?

I posted some answers below in purple that might help you out.

1.  Are there discounted prices for children?  We have children coming from 15 years old to 2 years old. I am going to say yes, however the amount of the discount may depend on you're booking.  Example: a whole package that includes flight, transfer and hotel (typical for Canadian brides like me), OR doing the flight and hotel separetly (typical for US brides).  Our group is booked through Transat Holidays and yes there is a discount for children 12 and under.  The amount depends on the adult quote, but from what I can remember is was a few hundred dollars less.   2. Where are the locations we can get married?  I saw pictures of the beach, the terrace and the rooftop terrace.  You're right, but the beach has 2 locations.  Beach on the Coral side (I've heard this one is busy with a lot of hotel guests).  Beach on the Turquesa side is more quiet, however there is a not so good looking fence separating the hotel from the next property....but it's a lot more quiet than the other beach location.  Lobby Terrace, this is where I'm getting married so I love it ;-)  The other Terrace location looks good in the pictures, however when my TA visited she said the Teen Club is right around the corner and there are tacky murals painted on the walls.      3. What are our options for having a sit-down dinner after the ceremony? Beach; Pool Patio by the outside bar and lounge furniture; Upper Terrace next to the lobby terrace; and Lower Patio below the lobby terrace where the stairs come down.  Oh there's also a "plan b" indoor banquet room.    4. When is the best time to get married?  We were thinking around 3 PM. It depends on the time of year you're getting married.  Jan/Feb the sun sets earlier and as the months go on the days get longer.  Check out this website that shows typical sunset times based on the month of the year. http://cancunmap.com/weather/cancun-sunset.html   Thanks! <3 K

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
