Ocean Turquesa & Coral Brides?

Recommended Posts

@AnaS I'll totally keep you posted on my decorations!  Right now I have a lot of ideas, but I haven't started nailing anything down yet.  Overall my colours are green and white with touches of purple.  What about you, are you including any other colours?

The flower project sounds like it will work out smoothly.  Who knew Walmart was in Cancun?!  Lol the things I find out on this forum ;-)

Sandy, I really like your centerpieces! They are very elegant! Let me know when you hear back from Ana. Would be interested how much she is charging you for them.

Few other question for everyone:

  • are you guys using any additional decorations for the reception i.e. christmas lights, paper lanterns, tulle, etc I am considering white christmas lights but I don't want to overdo it
  • are you guys renting a dance floor? I think the terrace would be fine without it but wanted to see what everyone else is doing.

Happy Planning!

Hi guys,

I do plan on using yellow, pink and orange paper lanterns. The theme of our wedding is Island Chic. Yellow is my fav color but there will be hints of orange and pink in there too. I think the terrace is good enough and we wont request a dance floor, I figure we will just use the space on the lobby terrace. From pics I have seen, it is big enough.  When I was with Ana she showed me pics of how other brides used the paper lanterns on the terrace. They were hung from the wooden beams.  They looked really pretty.  Tropic Lover can you post a pic of the DIY boarding passes for your save the dates.  I want to try to cut corners with as much as possible. AnaS, when Ana gets back to me with prices I will certainly let you know.  If it too expensive, I plan on just going to Walmart and getting it myself.  Great idea!  Thank god for Walmart. I wonder if you can preorder the vases from Walmart and just pick them up.  When I was at the resort, my fiancee and I made friends with two of the girls from the sales office. I might reach out to them and ask them for help since they live in the area and know vendors.  I will let you guys know what they recommend. We just booked our wedding photographer. It was hard, since they all seem amazing! but we ultimately ended up going with Juan Navarro.

I am sooooooooo excited! and can hardly wait for July!  I am sure you girls feel the same!

Lots of yellow, pink and orange. Our flower arrangement is yellow rainbow orchids in those tall vases filled with water and a floating candle at the top. I sent the pic to Ana and am waiting to hear back to see if they can do it. Thanks for the advice about picking it up myself if they can't do it. They are fairly simple to make.

I have thought bout the welcome baskets, I think we are going to fill it with mini size lotions, SPF, bug spray, aloe Vera etc. We are also going to put this really cute door knob hanger that you can download from Martha Stewar.com. They are designed so that your guests can hang them on their hotel room door and they know you can find them. We are also printing out our guests room numbers so everyone knows where to find each other. Hotel info and restaurant info and excursion brochures will also be in there. I also want to write each guest a personalized thank you note to be put in their room when they arrive. I will be hitting up the dollar stores of course. Lol.

soooooooooo i'm totally stalking you ;)

actually, i wanted to see juan navarro and came across your last post. i did want to tell you (and the other ladies here) that you should be really careful with door hangers. it will tell other guests and employees who is and isn't in their room. there's a thread or some posts around here somewhere about people who did that and subsequently were robbed.

carry on.... :)

Ladies,

Here are my STDs. I am very excited though it is quite a bit of work to make them.

I got the template for the actual boarding passes from another bride on this website but I can't find it anymore, so I will be posting mines. I apologize for not being able to give her proper credit. The pocket template I found online by google-ing it.

Below is a picture of the package that will be mailed to my guests:

And now all the components:

  • one main boarding pass
  • one boarding pass with accomodation information
  • one pocket

photo 1.JPG

The main boarding pass has magnetic strips on the back. I used magnetic business cards with adhesive. I cut them in strips and stuck them on the bacl. See below:

photo 3.JPG

And finally all the tools that I used besides the cardstock:

  • paper cutter to cut the boarding passes
  • round corner cutter for the edges of the boarding passes
  • Xacto cutter for the little opening in the pocket
  • scissors
  • double tape for fording and putting the pocket together
  • magnetic business cards with adhesives
  • ruler

And now, here are my templates:

Happy Planning!

@Sandy, I've just posted my boarding pass save-the-dates!  It was a lot of work, literally an entire day (9am - 8pm) of folding, cutting gluing, embossing....but totally worth it in the end ;-)  I used the same template as AnaS although I couldn't for the life of me make a proper pocket shown in her template so I started experimenting and ended up making one of my own.

Here's the link: http://www.ayleebits.com/2006/06/10/diy-boarding-pass-save-the-date/

For the pocket, I embossed the leaf by purchasing a leaf stamp, clear glue "ink" pad, white embossing powder and I borrowed my friends heat gun (I helped her with her wedding invites and learned about embossing then).  It took a few tries to get the hang of it, but after that it was smooth sailing.

The inside pocket is open on the left side with the rounded corner.  Here I used a rounded corner cutter which probably has a special name that I'm not sure of.  The bottom is closed.

And here's the whole package cheesy.gif

TropicLover, your STDs are awesome!

I wanted to do some embroising too and actually bought stamps and a heat gun but I am amking about 150 and realized that embroising would taken me too much, so I gave up on that :)

The pockets I made tool very long! I worked for 2 days on them and my hands are hurting right now :)

I plan on doing passport invites, but have not decided if I will make them myself or buy them yet.

Happy Planning!

Sandy Iâ€m so happy to hear those wooden beams are on the lobby terrace!  This really opens a new door to decorating!  I really like the paper lantern idea!  That would look so pretty.  I wonder how white fabric that hanging and tied to the corned vertical beams would look.  Kind of like the picture below, just ignore the fact that itâ€s an alter.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
