Welcome back Melissa! Thanks for the great review. The blood story was cracking me up. I was thinking "geez, this girl has some luck...a bruised toenail and a scratched left hand".

So glad everything was beautiful and just as you imagined it. Can't wait to see more pics!!

First of all GREAT review! You ladies write such informative reviews. There is no need to go to Trip Advisor if I ever want to go to Mexico.

Second, I had to stop reading because I almost passed out reading about your blood work!!! I am getting nauseas just writing! That is seriously CRAZY!!! What the hell!

Melissa I am so glad to hear that aside from some minor glitches your wedding was a success. You have such a great, carefree personality that it def helped to make your wedding a fabulous time. If they had stabbed me in my wrist...well let's just say I would have been a baby about it and been miserable for the rest of the trip. Okay I'm sure I would have gotten over it but I still would have been cranky.

I love the garter toss story. How great! John is so funny! Poor guy I can't believe he passed out. There is no way in hell that I would do the legal marriage in Mexico. Sorry not gonna happen. You are brave to go through with it. Once she said the word "wrist" I would have been like "uh sorry no can do" and I would have walked out the office and gotten myself a margarita ASAP. Then I would have just gotten legally married at home.

The wedding sounded fabulous and I am so glad that the OOT bag thing worked out. I am dying to know what you ended up doing with your table runners.

Melissa, that is RIDICULOUS!!! About the blood, are you kidding? I'm definitely seriously considering the legal wedding here!!!

Otherwise it sounds so perfect!!!! Well done, gorgeous, gorgeous.

So, since I am getting married there too, I have some questions -- sorry!!

Okay:

1. What airline did you fly, sounds like they were really good!

2. What package did you have - were the gorgeous flowers and such just the ones that came standard in the flowers?

3. Where was the reception, in a banquet hall somewhere? what did that look like?

4. Was the ceremony on the beach really crowded? Lots of people staring, or was it somewhat secluded?

5. How many guests did you have again?

Great work on the favours, sounds like it worked out perfectly!

It sounds so wonderful!

Congrats congrats, can't wait to see more pics. :)

Don't let the blood test thing keep you from doing a legal ceremony...every other review I've read has been completely different from my experience. No one else has had problems like we did! (But most of them had the doctor do it instead of the nurse). The judge who performed the ceremony was fantastic - he spoke English really well and he gave us both a really really great pep talk about marriage! He was so great!

To answer your questions;

We flew Air Transat...flying first class with them is awesome...flying economy is pretty cramped, so not much different from any other airline.

We chose the Sea Breeze package...the flowers we had to choose from were absolutely beautiful...it was so hard to choose (and they were all just the standard flowers!) Our WC also said we could choose the same shape and size of bouquet but change colours and such if we wished to do that, but the one bouquet I saw I totally fell in love with so I didn't change anything.

Depending on how many people you have an which package you choose you have a few options about where you have your reception. Because our wedding was one of the larger ones they put us in a banquet hall - it was the perfect size for 43 of us with a good sized dance floor, but very plain. No decorations except for what was on the tables (and we had to bring our own table runners and such). I'll post some pictures of the hall a little later tonight!

The resort staff push everyone who's around the wedding site on the beach back and they also re-direct anyone who's walking too close...to be honest with you, except for one rude old man in a speedo who decided he wanted to look over the judge's shoulder (well, not really LOL but he got pretty close!) and didn't care what anyone else had to say about it, I didn't even notice anyone else around - I was way too focused on getting my vows right and stuff like that hehe

Hope that helps! Don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions!!

Congratulations Melissa! It sounds like everything turned out really well. I'm so sorry about the blood draw incident- how horrible! I'm glad you got that out of the way early so you could enjoy yourself. Now I'm off to go look at your pics!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
