*sigh* we should all make a song about RSVP's and how wedding guests just don't seem to respect their significance. girl_werewolf.gif

Well we began sending out our DIY boarding pass STD's and initial "reply card" which we labored over for hours, days, weeks about late September. They have continued to go out sporadically as I gathered addresses of our roughly 150+ guests ~ HA intimate wedding my ass. BangHead.gif

So about 100 STD's have been sent out and despite not listing any "return this card by _____" date and simply asking that they be returned "at your earliest convenience," the reply postcards have actually trickled in sporadically. A couple days ago my daughter racked up the guests count and we're up to about 70 people. ~ again this is supposed to be a wedding with only our closest family and friends. I guess we're "close" to a lot of people liar.gif

But needless to say, I am unhappy because most of these reply cards have come from FI's side of the family. I've probably received about 3 or 4 of them from my people. My own freaking aunts and uncles who are staying in the villa with us haven't sent them back despite me telling them that I've got a system and am trying to keep organized. Yeah, doesn't matter to them EVEN THOUGH THERE's ALREADY A FREAKING STAMP ON IT!!! voodoo.gif

My frustrations have been met with my Mom saying in her funny Filipino accent...."Filipino people don't believe in RSVPs MarieSam". *sigh* great so now its a cultural thing and I guess my people have little regard for the courtesy of an RSVP. wtf.gif

aye aye aye, it really shouldn't be this hard...

Okay - I'm not going to lie...I used to be that person that never RSVP'd on time and sometimes forgot completely! Now that I've spent weeks making my invites, spent the $$, and thoroughly annoyed my FI (I don't know how many times I complained to him and he just said, "Babe, let's just pay someone to do them for us!" :)...I promise to always put the RSVP in the mail as soon as I get it!! :)

I was always kind of bad too about RSVPs, but now that its me, I really don't see what the big deal is! I am kind of kidding...Actually, it pisses me off that I wasted a stamp, but for me, I already know who is coming and if anyone else pops up, well that will be a shock. I sent out 90 and only got about 15 back, and thats even from people who are coming!

I even put a link on my website which I referenced on the invite to RSVP, and still havent gotten many! It is kind of rude. My mom mentioned that since we did a tear off postcard for the return, people couldnt put a check in the return envelope. That's mom, always looking out for me!!!

I am soo glad that I found this post, this has been eating away at me the past few weeks. Our deadline was Dec. 1st and I still have about 35 invites that have not come back. Two of which are from part of the close families members if you can believe that- and I have a feeling they are actually dragging their feet because they might not be coming!! It is so inconsiderate... I have to admit getting married has given me such insight to the process and having such appreciation now to what all other brides have gone through!! I promise to not have a late RSVP to a wedding again :)...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
