Hi Heather!

I actually went to Atlantis about 7 years ago with my parents and my brother and it was BEAUTIFUL! Granted it was a family trip so it was a different environment than what you're going for, but I could definitely see it as a romantic place!

I remember the ocean being pretty cold when we went in early March, but they have so many pools around the resort that you really don't have a problem with lack of water to relax in! The waterslide through the shark tank is awesome and you should definitely try it out!

There are just so many neat things about this resort that even after 7 years I still remember very clearly - like the casino and the food! I do remember the service wasn't always with a smile, but I'm sure that has changed!

One thing I like to do when researching a hotel in addition to BDW (cuz it's the best!) I usually just check out the hotel on youtube.com. A lot of times you can get guest videos which give you an unbiased look at the rooms, the pools, the beach, etc. Just a thought!

Good luck in your planning! :)

My cousing just went there for a mini honeymoon in August. They said it was beautiful but be prepared to pay for EVERYTHING. I mean $5 for a bottle of water, etc., etc. For me that was kind'a shocking since when I go to beach vacations, we do all inclusive. And another thing is that outside the resort, there is nothing to do. I mean no excursions, nothing at all. You're stuck in there :)

As a fellow Canadian, I would say your money is better spent at one of the many all-inclusives. Especially with our dollar going down. I second what Bisha said about paying for everything (and it is all expensive - imagine if the only places you could eat in Edmonton for an entire week were the Fairmont and Hilton hotel restaurants) and aside from snorkeling (which again is expensive because you can't do it from shore) there really aren't any excursions. I was there for a week and although we generally aren't partiers we were bored. The only nightlife was gambling at the casino. There really isn't anything to do but lay on the beach or around the pool.

I don't mean to slam the Bahamas, it is still a pretty island with warm weather (no snow!), but if it wasn't for having to accommodate family from all over Canada and the US I would have had my wedding in Mexico or DR.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
