Are Any Other Canadian BDW Gals Keeping Current on the Federal Politics These Days?

I read a bit about it this morning, but I need to understand more before I form a real opinion. My first thoughts are...we JUST had an election, so shouldn't they let the people speak?! The country voted the Conservatives in less than 2 months ago - I think democracy would say that it's a bit too soon to overthrow what the country voted on. But maybe there are things I don't understand...

Although I agree with you Heather, the people have spoken.

Let us not forget that the Conservatives only got 38%( or something) of the electoral vote, the coalition is infact much more representative of the Canadian populace, 62% of the people will be represented!

I was listening to CBC radio this morning and they said that this type of coalitition has been shown to work in Eastern European countries where they have a much more representative government.

Lets not forget that the Gov Gen has to give her consent...

It is interesting and scary that, really, our vote didn't count for much. I did not vote Cons. in the last election so my opinion my be different then others. Here is my take, I am sick of going to the polls, how many times in how many years? how can any government get anything else done while dealing with this?? Dion will now be incharge when his own party doesn't have any faith in him. I am curious to see how this plays out and what it really means for us.

On a side note I have never seen the government ban together like this, maybe it will be good having three different points of view running things.

They're only banning together because they want the power, and they'll do anything to get it. I didn't vote conservative in the last election either but I really think there is something wrong with our political system when people are allowed to overturn the public's choices. It would be one thing if the vote was 2 years ago, and the party in power had done some really bad things, so the other people overturned them...but less than 2 months ago?! The public spoke. It's embarrassing that the other parties can just form a group and take the power, regardless of what the public voted. I understand that it was a minority government, but if that's the issue, we should change the way our political system works and change the way votes are counted. We shouldn't allow people to just do whatever they want, regardless of what the vote said.

I really do think this is embarrassing for our country. And I'm a little afraid of what this coalition government is going to do...

It's totally embarassing what is happening. While I don't necessarily agree with a coalition, it seems like it's the only way that Mr. Prime Minister will do anything about the economy. The "economic update" was just a bunch of crap, nothing to help people losing their jobs, losing their life savings and pensions. Harper campaigned saying nothing was wrong with the economy and that we weren't in a recession and finally when he realized that this was an issue that would decide the election, then he said maybe we were in "tough times". That being said, he's still doing nothing to help Canadians. He's either too arrogant or dumb to realize that he was eleted because people had no one else to vote for (Dion- puhlease, he's a sorry excuse for a leader! and Layton- too socialist for most people).

Thanks for your opinions ladies! I was wondering if I was starting to go crazy when I thought "Doesn't my opinion count anymore? This doesn't really seem to be a very democratic thing to do".

I agree, it will be very interesting to see how this all plays out. Like trance_angel said, there really wasn't anyone worth voting for this last election (IMO), so it was really a tough choice in that sense. Who do you pick when you don't really care for any of them?

I think I remember hearing that (a shocking!) less than half of eligible Canadian voters voted this time around and I think that's why! "Who do you vote for when you don't really like any of them?"

I agree with Heather… Canadians voted! I think itâ€s crazy to think this coalition may happen with a party that has fought so hard to separate its self from Canada (The Block)

I just donâ€t get it.. if the take over was being done because the government wasnâ€t performing then I would say fine… but its been two months since this government was elected.. not enough time (in my opinion) to make a call of overtaking via coalition!

Crazy/Scary!! (and Iâ€m not even a conservative!! lol)

If it does happen I hope it goes to a vote again.. then at least Canadians would be the ones making the decision... not the suits in Ottawa..

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!

I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
