Our AHR was this weekend & I have to vent....

So I just need to vent a little to someone who would understand (You guys) :)

Our AHR was this past Saturday. We had over 150 RSVP's. We made food for 150. Guess how many DID NOT show up? 70.

YES - 70 freakin people did not show up. Half of the people who said they would be there showed up..the others didn't. I am mad because we paid for ALL OF THAT FOOD! MY GOD - we threw food away and it was so wasteful because we had no more room in our vehicles to put the stuff. It was insane!

The majority of the people were from my dad's family. I knew ahead of time that they can not be counted on but we gave them the benefit of the doubt and still got screwed. It was disgusting the amount of food that was left over. We froze a lot and gave a lot away, but the thought that people were so freakin rude that they couldn't show up just burns me.

I know where we stand with them and they have been permanantely moved off of any future invite lists we have. We worked so hard and spent hundreds of $$$'s and people dont even have the decency to call to say they couldn't make it or their plans changed.

I'm glad our wedding is over and having an AHR is my biggest regret. My dad's family had a party the night before for one of my aunts - I almost feel like they did it on purpose as an excuse not to wake up and go to our brunch on Saturday. Screw them - they can all go to hell as far as I'm concerned!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
