Makeup/hair in Cancun/Riviera Maya?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

The one thing I am most concerned about is who is going to do my hair and makeup. I will not be doing a site visit, so I can't get a trial run on these. To me this is one of the most important things, because those photos are forever! So does anyone have any suggestions on either of these? Sol Tamargo has given me two that I plan to email, but I want to see if you guys had any other suggestions.feedback.gif

Are you getting married at a resort? Most resorts have salons that provide both services. I am going to my own hair dresser for a trail run, and just taking TONS of pics, to show who ever will be doing my hair.

Most places should be able to go off of pics to re-due the same style.

Lisa, I am not getting married at a resort, but I am staying at the Gran Caribe Real in Cancun. I had a bad experience once--a lady did my makeup at the Clinique counter before a high school dance, and it was so awful and unnatural, that people we commenting on it all night! So I am just a little nervous, and wanted to get recommendations. I will def. do the hair at home before, and taking lots of photos is a great idea. So thanks!

OMG - That's so funny!! I've had a horrible experience at the Clinique counter too, but that was so long ago.

Anny sounds like she has a great guy, if you're ok with spending the $$.

I'm having one of my BM do my make-up - so that's a thought also... We're going to do tons of trail runs though. I just really like the way she does her own, so I asked her to do mine and she was really excited!

Make up is especially important for the pictures. I have a guy in Playa that did my make-up for a photo shoot and it was great! I have never once liked my make-up when I have gotten it "professionally" done throughout the years so I was really nervous with him, but when I finally got to see the mirror I LOVED IT! It looked very natural and great in the photos. He is only charging $60 USD. If you want to see pictures let me know.

Hi Leanne,
I am getting married at Secrets Caprin and would be interested in seeing some pics of his work. If you do not want to post them, please PM me and I will send you my email address. Thanks!!

im doing my own hair and makeup. Well a few friends might help out with the hair if i need it, but as for makeup - im keeping it beachy and bronzey.

The key thing to remember is not to use SPF or foundation with SPF in it - the titanium dioxide in the makeup will give off a white cast with the camera flash. Be aware also that mineral makeup contains titanium doxides as well.

I am concerned about hair also. I'm doing my own makeup, but I definitely can't handle hair! I'm getting married in Tulum, not in a major resort, so I will need to find someone on my own. I haven't found too much info on hair stylists, unfortunately. I would love to hear any suggestions!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
