For the week of November 14th (toronto departure)... If you stay on the Grand Sunset Princess side and fly with Sunwing.. the price is around $1,000 taxes included. CHECK IT OUT!! :) When I went to the resort in February 2008, we paid almost $500 each more than that!!

We are locked in with Transat at almost $1,600 a person (swim-up), around $2,000 for my parents Platinum. We are kind of kicking ourselves in the butt right now.
Hi Ashley,
Thanks for the tip. However, I was told by some travel agents that Sunwing is not doing so well. It wouldn't surprise them at all if they go bankrupct. So, after hearing that really scared me. I do not want to take that risk for my wedding so Sunwing is off my list. I like AirTransat, good choice. That's another reason why I wouldn't go for Sunwing because they offer the lowest perks. Did you know that there are different bracelets at the resort? AirTransat will ensure you get the best service, of which, includes the best bracelet (whatever colour it is!) and Sunwing will give you the cheapest bracelet that can be upgraded at extra cost. Anyhow, thanks for your help. :o)

Hey Ellen

We are actually returning guests to the hotel. My fiance actually works for Air Transat, which we flew last time. I probably shouldn't be telling people to fly Sunwing lol :) The only thing about the perks is, they really aren't worth $500 a person more. I do have to say though, as Brendan works for AirTransat, we go on all inclusive vacations about 3 times a year and the Grand Princess was the best resort we have ever been to!

We booked a swim-up room which we had last time. LOVED IT! We actually moved from our Platinum Suite to the swim-up and didn't regret our choice one bit!!

Hi Ladies,

I have a question for you ladies. When we booked through our TA we requested a Swim Up room....well now the TA is telling us that thier supplier no long carries swim up rooms?!? That we are to ask upon arrival?? Has anyone ever heard of this before?

I had the same problem with the swim ups.. I haven't called the resort yet to ask about the rates, but if you do, could you post them?

Also, has anyone received the flower/cake options yet??

NOTE: I am looking to share an external photographer!! I am getting married on November 11th, 2009. Is anyone willing to share the cost of binging someone in? I am open to suggestions, and also have options for those who haven't chosen a photog yet! Just trying to be budget friendly! wink.gif

We have already booked and put our deposit down. I just talked with a TA and they said because, each tour group is alloted so many rooms (secific rooms) etc. Thats the reason we cannot get the swim up room....but we can request upon arrival. Not to happy about this....but nothing I can do.

I'm having a lot of trouble choosing a resort! I think this is my new front runner. We were originally looking at February 2010, but now I think we're considering December. It is almost half the price to travel in December vs. February! How long did it take everyone to confirm their wedding date at this resort? I get so impatient waiting for all the information!

Because of the price different with Sunwing, my travel agent is trying to get Transat to lower the price that we locked into earlier this year. If not, we are considering losing our deposit and switching to Sunwing because it will still be thousands cheaper (my parents are paying for 7 of us). I have a swim-up room booked (had one last time.. best thing ever) and this is what she told me about changing:

"Back in March I had contacted Sunwing regarding prices they had for this property. The group department doesnâ€t have any swim up rooms so we would have to just do individual bookings, but fly with Sunwing"

So she can book our flight with Sunwing and then the room through the resort. There is no requesting a room when we get there. She is looking into see how much of a price difference this is going to be, but she didn't think too much!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
