Grand Riviera Princess & Grand Sunset Princess

Hey guys... random question....when you reserved your date with the GSP/GRP, did they ask you to send a copy of both sides of your credit card and id? I sent the authorization letter with my credit card info, but I feel a bit unsure of sending the photo copies...that's a bit too much info to ANYBODY. What do you guys think?

Also, just an FYI, I've been going back and forth with Sandra all week via email. I noticed her first response in English was clearly an email she had written in Spanish and used an online translator to send it in English. I figured to help her out, I had my fiance, (who speaks fluent Spanish), write the next email, and she immediately responded. So far, (although I have now become the middle man), she has written back within 24 hrs of each email. Just a bit of advice, if you have the resources, try to write your email in Spanish. Otherwise, if she's taking a bit longer to get back to you, its probably b/c she has to take a minute to translate, and try, (I know its hard!), to be patient. :)

Good luck!

Hello, I have booked my wedding at the GRP for Dec 2009. I also, had to copy my card, and yes I thought it was a bit excessive. I did through my TA and she didn't think there was anything to worry about. I haven't had any problems because and my TA has booked a few weddings with them in the past and no one has reported any issues.

Hi Sunseeker,
I'm also thinking of Dec 2009 (1st week) but have the wedding planning on hold due to the swine flu going around. Anyways, which week are you getting married? And do you mind sharing the cost of your trip and tour operator? I just want to make sure that the quote I received is reasonable ($1339 tax incl.). Also, if we are in the same week, do you have a photographer yet, maybe we can share one? Thanks.

To those who have already visited there/had weddings. Did anyone happen to notice how "gluten free" the resort is? My FI's brother can't have it..Our TA has contacted the resort trying to find out what options they might have for him but we haven't heard back from her yet. Anyone have any ideas?

Hello eeyore333, Sorry for the delayed reply. I really have to check this more frequently. We are getting married at the GRP on Dec 10/09, and from looking around this forum it looks there is a few of us. I found this a bit strange because when I booked the wedding in February, I was told they only do two a day, oh well. It is a big resort and I am sure they know what they can handle. As for the prices, our guests are paying $1546 tax included from Calgary through signature vacations. So the prices you were quoted seem really good, I imagine travel is cheaper from Toronto. As for the photographer, that is the one job I left to my fiancé, so I am not sure what he has decided yet. I hope this helps, and looks like Dec 10th will be a big day for a few of us, happy planning.

This isn't really that big of a deal seeing as how everyone will be there anyway. However I have sent her three emails to confirm a new wedding date for November 17, 2009 and she has not replied to any of them!! Has anyone else had trouble getting a hold of her this past week? I'm really starting to freak out!!!
Jennifer

It looks like our weddings were double booked. So we will be there the same week. The hotel never told me anything, but seeing your post I now know. What a coincidence I saw this. How terrible and frustrating that must be for you. I can understand how it happened though, their organization is terrible. Diana was e-mailing me and asking me for forms that I already sent in. Its been such a hassle dealing with them.

I e-mailed her this week to ask for photos of the private beach reception. It only took her 5 days to reply and she sent me the pictures. That's the quickest response time I have gotten since the wedding was booked. I'm hoping she is getting the hang of things now that she has been there a bit longer.

I was looking yesterday to see how much the prices have gone down since I booked in January and everything that's been going on. I was looking at yyztravel.com and selloffvacations.com

For the week of November 14th (toronto departure)... If you stay on the Grand Sunset Princess side and fly with Sunwing.. the price is around $1,000 taxes included. CHECK IT OUT!! :) When I went to the resort in February 2008, we paid almost $500 each more than that!!

We are locked in with Transat at almost $1,600 a person (swim-up), around $2,000 for my parents Platinum. We are kind of kicking ourselves in the butt right now.

Thanks!feedback.gif
If you tell me what variety of food those are I can tell you which is good! I loved the Fondue and the Mexican when I was there!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
