It was pretty warm at night, not hot, but definitely not chilly.  I think it will probably be even warmer in May, so maybe pashminas aren't necessary?

I brought my own lanterns because they told me that it is difficult for the resort to get them.  Because they fold flat, they were super easy to throw into my suitcase.  Just a note, they charge $100 per 20, so if you bring more than 20 - they will increase the price.  I brought 16 and it was plenty for the event terrace.

Welcome back and CONGRATULATIONS!! It sounds like everything went beautifully! Really good news about the DJ! I was a little worried about them, so thanks for the feedback!

Question for you...what kind of wedding cake did you have??  We want tres leches but found out they cant do it as a tier cake so now we have some flavors to choose. Does anyone have a wedding cake flavor list??

We had the top tier as banana (my favorite!), middle layer as chocolate, and bottom layer as marble (vanilla/chocolate).  I couldn't ever get the WC to give me a flavor list, but anything I asked for she was able to do.  I think I have also heard that they do strawberry and have different kinds of fruit fillings.

YUM!! I just read this to my fiance and he said, "mmmmm....banana....!" Was it all banana or a fruit filling??

I know exactly what u are talking about. I wanted small and intimate so I only invited 18 people that I just knew would show up and knowing financially could make the trip. I requested RSVPs by May 1 and sent actual invites out in January. Really only people who weren't invited seem to be making the most effort at this point. So your right Sharon.......I'm like whatever right now. I truly only care about the two of us. He actually wanted it like that but I thought it would be nice to have at least one couple to share the moment with us but then it was like we can't not invite parents but I'm over it all. There are are too many other things in life going on to stress about this. I want everything to go well but it will all work out however it works out. K

I know exactly what you mean. We sent out our STDs a year in advance and EVERYONE was going. We are talking about 45-50 people... We did RSVPs 4-5 months in advance because of our room block date to add or remove. Well we will have 25 coming with us. The part that made me mad were the people who actually RSVP yes and I am still waiting for them to tell me NO. People are so rude sometimes and I only wish I was the 1st one out of friends and family to get married because things would be a whole lot different! But I know we will have an awesome time with the people who came and not think once about the ones that didn't. And really I only need 1 person there in the end...

Funny im thinking my MOH may pull that same stunt because her entire demeanor about the wedding has changed in the last couple of months. She went from super excited and cant wait to "i need to come into some money". I just kindly state, "dont we all". But she is comes from money. People are something else. I'm not going to get upset with anyone. It is what it is. I just wouldn't make this type of major commitment & not hold up to my end of the bargain.

Sharon99, I feel your pain!  I had my best friend of 17 years tell me that we shouldn't wait until next year just because it will give guests more time to save money and that everyone goes on vacation, so we set a date of Nov 17th this year.  Now she is telling me she can't go because it is too soon for her to save the money!  As disappointed as I am, in the end you are right and I only need one person there!

Congrats!!! I am so happy for you. That seems to be the ending results for all brides, as much as we stress. What room did you stay in?

Hi All, I'm really sorry that I'm so late in getting back to everyone post-wedding!!  We just got back from MX last night and it has been a bit of a whirlwind.  The ceremony and reception were GORGEOUS.  There were some details missed, but overall everything went fantastic.  I had the Gold package and 36 guests.  We went with DJ Mannia for the reception and also extended for an additional hour.  All my guests were raving about the resort and also how beautiful/fun the wedding was - I even got a few "this is the best wedding we have ever been to!" comments. Lleny was MIA during the reception and there was a bit of confusion about when the party ended, but we were able to figure out - that was the only large issue that came up.  Also, I was very disappointed that they did not deliver the leftover cake to my room, or even the sand jar from our ceremony.  But again, I got over it and focused on the bigger picture.  Our final invoice was also incorrect, like $400 extra in centerpieces in correct, but they fixed it right away and I didn't have any other issues.  But definitely check and double check your invoice. For those considering the paper lanterns at the reception, I LOVED it and thought it added a really nice ambiance to the event terrace - totally worth it.  And don't worry about LED throwies or anything like that, they had lights for them and everything (but there was a $100 charge to hang them). My hair and make up went well, but I would caution that any brides planning on getting married on the beach, GET AN UPDO.  I had my hair half-up, thinking that since our wedding was in the gazebo, it wouldn't be too windy.  It was fine in the gazebo, but when we went to the beach for pics, it  was ruined and I basically had to redo it.  I wish I had just done an updo and not had to stress about it all day. Our DJ was fantastic and the MC did a wonderful job.  We gave him about 40 songs that we wanted played and let him choose the rest and they were spot on and really got the party going.  Our photographer was Juan Navarro and he was super friendly and though he was taking tons of pictures, you didnt even notice him there.  I'll reserve my final judgement on him until we see the pictures, but I'm hopeful. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away!  I'll try to check in regularly.  I'm so jealous of all of you, I would go back and do it all over again in a minute!!

Hear Hear!!!! I had the same situation with one of my closest friends of 15 years! SHE was the one who said, "have your wedding where you want it...those of us who will be there, will be there regardless." She was a bridesmaid and would have been my MOH, had my MOH not been family...and we discussed that!  She also has quite enough $ to make the trip, and helped us decide on where to have it. Well guess what...JUST when ordering bridesmaid dresses came rolling around, she SENT ME AN EMAIL and bailed out. I was devastated. :( Honestly, it hurts. I too, would and have been there many times for friends and family...ALL over the world, and it's hard to understand why they choose not not be there for us. BUT....it is what it is. Another good reason to marry your best friend who will always be there for you!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
