Jewels i just realized that I didn't answer all of your questions!
I was originally a May 14th bride but I postponed b/c of the swine flu. All of my guests backed out on me b/c they were afraid and they still haven't rebooked! Only my parents...so this has definitely been an emotional roller coaster for me. I have definitely realized who my true friends are.
Other than that I am done with everything. There were a few things that I still wanted to purchase but at this point I just want to hurry up and get it over and done!
If my guests don't go I will have a whole lot of OOT contents and bags to sell!!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to introduce myself. I have been reading your thread and after weeks of research on other resorts- I have finally decided on Playa Mujeres for our wedding. Thanks for all the information you have all provided- you have helped a ton! We are hoping to set our date (once I hear back from Yamina) for April 2010.
I have a million questions. I'll start with a couple of basic ones- what is everyone doing about the food at the reception-- I don't really like the 'gold' or 'silver' choices- can you change them out for other options? What about vegetarians? What if you have more than 20 guests?
Also has anyone used destinationweddings.com?
Thanks!
Rachel

Hey guys,
I'm becoming a little frustrated with the response time on my emails to Yamina. I don't send emails weekly or daily, once a month if that. I sent off an email about 3 weeks ago and no response was given. I really don't think it should take a wedding planner 1 to 2 weeks to respond to emails, for a hotel who wants your business. My TA suggested emailing the hotels general manager to express my dissatisfaction. I'm not trying to get her in trouble but I do really think she should be more on top of things. What do you think?

I agree. I work in sales for a hotel and I do corporate and social events. I would be in so much trouble if I took that long to respond to emails! We do have to keep in mind that they don't practice the same service response time that we do here in the US. But it's still ridiculous!
I did not get an answer from one of my emails and I forwarded it to her and was like did you get this? You take a while to respond. It still took her 2 days and she wrote back saying she was so sorry and blah blah blah....
A destination wedding was supposed to be easier! I find comfort in knowing that they are supposedly very attentive once you get there and take care of everything.
So feel free to email the general manager. You should definitely get a response and if not that would be a very bad thing!

Congrats and welcome! Just a warning that Yamina will take forever to respond to your emails.
I am just doing the Silver package...I no longer have that many guest coming and figured that if the food is horrible we can go to another restaurant afterwards! There is a fee of $45 per person (I think) once you go over 20 people. That may increase for 2010 so be sure to ask Yamina.
I have not used destinationweddings.com. I'm sure if u do a search on the forum you can find out info.
Happy Planning!

Rachel--Welcome and Congratulations! I used weddingdestinations.com...I dont have any real complaints...but I read somewhere on here, that there is a thread somewhere about them and that others have not had good experiences with them. Hi Mesita!
Im so sorry to hear the rebookings arent happening..thats really unfortunate. But you know what--this is about you and your FI..your parents will be there..and thats all that matters. If it makes you feel any better...my parents havent booked and I still dont know if they are coming for sure...but all I keep saying to myself is..its ok...its not going to change the outcome if no one else attends...you will still be married to the man you love! But I do understand being hurt. Just dont lose focus...
I too am considering my own photographer...I was NOT impressed with what I saw with the resort photographer...I havent booked yet, but I think Im going with Vanessa Vargas..I think shes great and extremely affordable..flexable with her packages...shes been nothing but professional and very responsive.
im not doing the video unless the resort will allow both Vanessa and their videographer to work together.

Thanks Jewels 336!
Lauren - I get responses more quickly from Yamina when I CC Nayeli. Even though Yamina is slow with response times, she is doing a lot of extra stuff for me so I can not complain. She is getting the custom beach towels for my OOT bags from a vendor in Mexico, she got the florist to make me custom centerpieces because I did not like what she had to offer and she is getting me bottles of tequila for favors. Maybe I am taking up all her time and that is why she is not responding to all of you =0)
