I totally agree with you! This is getting crazy. I'm tempted to call the resort manager or someone in charge there (outside of the wedding dept) and ask them what is going on.

Originally I started planning with Yamina, then Ileana, then Gustavo, then back with Ileana. Now to find out she is gone is so frustrating!!! Mostly because we already had arranged for some things and made special arrangments and everytime I start working with someone new I have to reconfirm everything! To be honest if the deals and arrangments that I had with the others are not honoured with the new coordinator (I have emails to prove everything) I will be very upset and have a big problem with the resort. The other problem is that with only two months to go I need to start getting some answers to my questions, and it seems like now I never can get those answers! Plus it worries me that what if the new coordinators or managers quit before the wedding or take over and are so overwhelmed that our weddings suffer. It is just a lot of added stress now to a process I already find very stressful and frustrating!

What would have been nice is for the resort to send the brides/grooms out emails letting us know what is going on and provide us with the new contact email for our new contact at the resort insteading of just not hearing back from anyone and then finding out it is because they no longer work there at the resort from this board! That would have eased my mind a bit but I guess that is asking for to much!

I feel the same way.... I am sure everything will be fine in the end and all of us will have the wedding of our dreams BUT I would have liked the respect of them contacting each and every one of us and letting us know exactly what has been going on, leaving us in the dark is really unfair. I am thinking about calling as well especially since I have emailed a ton of questions and have heard nothing in return. It so frustrating :(

We are supposed to be enjoying the whole process as much as possible and this is really adding so much unnecessary stress to the process.

Holy crap! Ileana just sent us an email at 5:45pm on Friday confirming our flowers....unless it was someone else using her email, like she did when I thought I was emailing Gustavo. This is getting VERY frustrating! How did you find out Ileana was gone? I'm going to call the resort today to see if I can get any answers...I'll keep you all posted!

As for the bottle openers...BRILLIANT! We are so on board with that...my fiance is looking for personalized cork screw/bottle openers online now...I'll let you know if he finds something good! I remember trying to open a corona in the door jam and then found the bottle opener in the bathroom the next day.

In our OOT bags we are bringing down with us mint tins, excedrin, tums, sunscreen, shout wipes, bug spray and now a bottle opener. :) We are actually going to be doing a ton of shopping while we're down there. We found "Mexico" or "Cancun" beach bags at Mercado 28 for about $4 each! We'll fill them with the things we're bringing down but also picking up Mexican chocolate, little bottles of kahlua and tequila, a lime,(along with our favorite margarita recipe) and  possibly a throw blanket(those woven ones that they handmake). We'll also have to get (probably at the resort) a map of the area with things to do. Our favors at the reception will be handpainted blown margarita glasses and of course maracas! Last time we were down there we ran around pricing things and found that buying most of it there will make our lives a lot easier from a packing perspective and it's also authentic and way less expensive! We still have to lug down the bridal party's bags and buri fans for the ceremony...we'll have a suitcase just full of that stuff.

As for the ceremony music, we have music picked out, but I too am nervous about it not sounding right. It's a REALLY long walk from the convention center and I'm wondering if I'll even be able to hear it! Great call with the guitarist...I think it's the way we're leaning now. YOU LADIES ARE AWESOME! I am so glad I came across this website and found you! :) THANK YOU!

For you ladies having the ceremony on the beach, what kind of footware is the groom wearing and groomsmen wearing? Shoes or sandals?

Sheryl, let us know what the hotel says about what's going on with their wedding coordinators if you call them. I'll be sure to do the same!

I'm putting our guys in sandals. I'm not even sure if I am wearing shoes so I hate to put them in heavy things. I haven't ruled out barefoot on the beach either.

Good luck with your call! I will be doing the same.  I received this email on Friday Morning:

                  "Hi Lorraine,

Hoping this e-mail finds you well.

First of all I would like to introduce myself as the Groups and Weddings Manager for Excellence Playa Mujeres, unfortunately Ileana is not working with us anymore and from now on I will be your main contact.

I have been working for Excellence Group for more than 4 years and I’ve been doing Destination Weddings for more than 7 years and I have all your information on file.

Since we are having a wedding on the 31st, is it possible to do the rehearsal on Friday at 5:30 pm?

If you have any question please do not hesitate to contact me."

Are you going to leave the resort and go into Cancun to do your shopping? We were thinking of doing the same but was afraid that cab rides would equal out to be over $100USD and couldnt justify it (just yet).  I really would like to get some authentic stuff for our guests though so it may be worth it.

Hello ladies My fi is wearing all KanyeWest Louis Vuitton boat shoes. I saw them & had to have them. I showed him & he loved my choice. Does anyone know the rules or if it is allowed to release small sky lanterns as part of the ceremony? I would like to place 2 on 2 empty chairs up front for his mom & his sister who died last year in a fatal car accident. I would like to have their pics images on the lanterns. Thank you K
