Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Hi again!

We are going to miss eachother by 4 days! We're heading down on the 12th staying at Marriott Casa Magna for the first 3 days, going to Excellence for a week and then having our honeymoon at Zoetry Paraiso de la Bonita for the next week. I can't wait!

I believe you need to pick out the menu ahead of time and tell them who is having what. The next step is making a seating chart for them. We had the menu choices on our reply card with the invitations. If you pick one menu then there's no need for a seating chart. We have several fish eating vegitarians so we had to do some adjusting.

Are you seeing crazy high flight prices?? I live close to Philly and most of our guests are coming from PHL or the NY airports. Prices are outrageous right now! I think it's holding some people back from committing. We have an rsvp deadline of Feb 11th and we are still waiting for over half of the guests replies!

Question....how do you feel about their choice of flowers?? When we were there in September, we met with the florist and had everything worked out. Now there's a new vendor....prices higher and NOT the options we chose...I'm getting worried!

Hi Sharon,

Are you having a DJ for your 25 guests? I am debating on cancelling our DJ since we have gone down 30-25 guests, but then we would not have an MC... What are you doing for your reception music?

Thank you!

I wanted to make up a menu before we went so the tasting may not workout too well. Maybe I will just do it anyways in case something is better & forget about the menus...

Do you know if your guest have to let them know ahead of time or do they come around like waiters asking what they want? Im not sure how it works! Does anyone have the menu options? I wasnt sure if it was updated from when I received it. Mine has the options from 2010-2011

Welcome Monica! Holy cow! That's a lot of guests!! How awesome, you are very lucky. Our numbers (25) are actually going down even after people have booked.

Oh no, there is a new florist?? Ugh, I better get with Gustavo and see what this means for us :/

Also, we are flying out of Pittsburgh and most our guest are flying out of Pitt and Philly and yes, flights are outrageous! We have had 3 guests cancel because of the flight costs. We have our RSVP deadline as Feb 1st and we are missing a lot of RSVPs as well. bummer....

Sounds like you have a wonderful event planned!!

I am getting nervous, we leave for our wedding in 2 months.

Happy Planning!!

Crap, so that means I have to find out what everyone wants to eat by phone or email! UGH!

I had no idea about the flowers. They had sent me a word doc of pictures but said they would have a new one so I really havent picked anything. I know with the gold package some of the bouquets are included. Not sure which type of flowers though... I really just want tropical pink & orange with some yellow. I have not heard from the resort since the last time I emailed them which was back in August. Guess I should get on that! I have no idea what I need now! lol!

Our rsvp deadline was November only because our room group rate was up then. As of now everyone has replied BUT that doesnt mean they are coming if they said yes. I had a few people book the room & then get their money back & cancel. What can ya do right.

We are flying out of Philly & I have been watching the air prices like a maniac since last February!! It was holding at $503 then went up to $610 before xmas then after went to $650 now its at $667!!!! I thought it was going to DROP now but it hasnt...and I dont think it will since gas prices are expected to raise again. It really sucks and I know some of my guests booked the room only & was waiting on air to drop. Hope that means they wont drop out too :( It just stinks because you really have no idea what it will be like even tomorrow.

Yep, we got the DJ for the reception. I have no idea who it is. It was DJ Mannia back when we first signed but who knows if they have changed another item there. UGH

We didnt want to have to worry about making an entire playlist for an ipod, making sure there were enough songs on it, that no one takes control & starts skipping, renting speakers etc...  We are big music people & I want everyone up & dancing! I think it will be more memorable then just having an ipod playing but that's just my opinion! But I am sure if you cancel the DJ it will still be amazing. We just dont want to have to worry about that too! lol. You could probably rent or borrow the mic with the speakers. OH or just bring an ipod dock system then you wont need speakers. And if anyone wants to speak just have them talk loud!

Hi Sharon!

The flight thing is a bummer....last I saw at the least expensive from Philly was $525 on Airtran...not a non stop flight. We looked at Baltimore and found an Airtran flight for $411 non stop and American for $395 but with 1 stop. Depending on where your guests live in the Philly area, a 2 hour road trip to Baltimore may not be a bad idea!

As for DJ Mannia, we met with them in Sept as well. Fernando was great and very open to what we want to hear. We too are BIG time music people and have a very eclectic mix of music. We're in the process of converting our music from Itunes to an MP3 so he'll have anything that someone may ask for and can then taylor it to our style. Not many DJ's would be that open to doing this. Also, he will send you a sample list of music that he has and will need a list of songs from you for first dance, cake cutting, bouqust throw, etc. If I remember correctly, they are the ones that do the lighting as well. Here's the email... info@manniacancun.com.mx   Oh, and they include all sorts of party "accessories"...sombreros, Giant glasses, beads, etc... You'll have to let him know if you want this stuff...

3 months away! How exciting!!! :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
